Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Today I disconnected my MAF and removed the airbox on my 01 996TT.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect maf and removed the airbox' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect maf and removed the airbox' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I remembered someone here speaking of this, so I disconnected the MAF connector and carefully replaced it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

while driving this AM in my '02 996 Cab. With no apparent reason, the ABS and PSM failure lights went on and said take to dealer. Stopped car, restarted engine, and everything fine for the next five minute drive to work.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Do you have stock suspension or aftermarket coilovers? The reason I ask is that I have Techart coilovers and if you don't re-route the electronic wire to the brakes, the coilovers can gently tug on the connector, making the car think that there is an ABS/PSM problem.
If your car is modified, take it back to whoever did the work.
If your car is stock, take it to the dealer under warranty.
My 92 Lexus "faults" the Abs pumpmotor if it cycles more than 10 times in a relatively short period. The ABS pumpmotor, seemingly throughout the industry, is not sized for continuous duty, and supplies ALL of the brake fluid pressure replenishing (accumulator recharge) needs. A small valve leak WITHIN the system and.....
It's considered a "temporary" fault so it resets each time you restart.
Needed new brake switch. Computer showed a fault with switch working intermittently. Hope this solves problem. Apparently, ABS, PSM all affected by brake system signals. Thanks for your responses.
it turned out to be, believe it or not the Air flow sensor lead, the small plastic catch had broken on mine allowing it to come loose, I have also heard of it having a bad connection inside the plug. For some reason it affects the loom, there must be part of the wiring loom that runs through the airflow sensor, I pushed mine in firmly and it stopped doing it. Could be that, no harm in trying!
Apologies for dredging up an old thread, but I would like to confirm what Todd has previously stated.
Today I disconnected my MAF and removed the airbox on my 01 996TT. After I reassembled everything I took the car for a drive and got the PSM\ABS failure display. I remembered someone here speaking of this, so I disconnected the MAF connector and carefully replaced it. After letting the car sit for a half hour or so, the PSM\ABS warning lights went away.

YES! Mine did this about three weeks ago. Same thing...ABS and PSM lights lit up for no reason. After shutting off the car, I restarted and all was well. Took it to the dealer anyway. The tech said that sometimes foreign matter can get stuck in rotor area causing these false positives. He mentioned that driving through dirty roads/gravel may have caused it. I distinctly remember this happenning before the lights triggered.
He cleared the codes while I was there and told me to return if it happenned again. However, it hasn't happenned since. Frankly, I think a small rock/pebble was stuck in tthere somewhere since I heard some squealing from the front left a couple of days afterwards. After applying the brakes firmly a few times, all symptoms went away.
