Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

And yes, I checked the forecast and the radar before the trip.

Leading evidence: 'Check forecast and the radar' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'loose 13mm nut holding the arm down' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check forecast and the radar' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think this was caused by a loose 13mm nut holding the arm down to the tapered and serrated post as the passenger side arm was a little loose as well.

Repairing, assuming these are fully tapered, should be as simple as cleaning the drive splines and just properly torquing the arm to the shaft, forming new splines.

I am pretty sure there is a Porsche spec on how many millimeters off the lower part of the windshield each should be, but when I replaced my wiper arms, I set them opposite each other like this:

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While driving through biblical rain and flooding in Atlanta this past Saturday, my driver's side wiper slipped and got caught beneath the passenger side wiper arm and the serrations on the wiper arm stripped. Luckily, the serrations on the motor post was made of hardier stuff than the serrations on the wiper arm so I think I just need a new arm (ordered from FCP Euro). I think this was caused by a loose 13mm nut holding the arm down to the tapered and serrated post as the passenger side arm was a little loose as well. I'm not sure what the torque value is but hand tight should be sufficient. I might also add some loctite during the reinstall.
Make sure your wiper arm posts are tight and if you don't have a thin wall 13mm socket, get one just in case you need it.
And yes, I checked the forecast and the radar before the trip.
Is the motor post metal ? Aluminum arm splines on steel splines = long term corrosion possibility . I would reassemble with some dielectric grease or Anti-seize.
I understood that VW and others used this arrangement w/ tapered splines so that the softer arms will strip if the arms are bound from ice, etc. minimizing damage to the mechanism. Repairing, assuming these are fully tapered, should be as simple as cleaning the drive splines and just properly torquing the arm to the shaft, forming new splines. I know older vehicles used this method, unsure how long this carried on.
Now I just need to see some pictures of the driver's side wiper at rest so i can see where the starting point is when I install the new wiper arm so if y'all have any, please send them my way. Thanks in advance!
