Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As the title states my brake lights are always on. Ordered a new brake light switch and swapped it out no dice. Lights still stuck on. Pulled fuse 7 row B and lights off. Took both switches old and new apart and cleaned, reassembled and still no luck. Can I jump the black and yellow wire in the female end of the connection to isolate it a bad new switch. What should I do next?

POST 2Original post

Is there a relay involved? If not it sounds like some wires are crossed. Does the light go out when you apply the brakes? Start thinking about the other systems that can activate the lights - maybe alarm? If any of them have a relay I'd start there.

POST 3Original post

My 99 did that. There is a little bushing at the pedal that caused my issue. Took the dealer three days to figure it out. I can't seem to find the part number now though.

POST 4Original post

#20 ? http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=702-00

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will post and update as embarrassing as it its as I always like it when the loop gets closed on threads instead of leaving everyone hanging. When you are shoe horned upside down and backwards of the floor boards of your car, keep your bearings as you might actually replace the switch on the clutch and not the brake and struggle with why your brake lights still do not work........ face palm.

POST 6Original post

I believe it was indeed #20 in the parts diagram.
