Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I imagine my idle is a bit rough. What should I check? Clean the MAF?

POST 2Original post

I had the same problem bouncing from 200-1000 rpm. Replaced the Idle Controll Sensor and Throtal Controll Switch purchased from Pelecan Parts on Line site. Runs perfectly 1999 C2 996 56K miles for the past year no Idle bouncing.

POST 3Original post

so you have a check engine light? any access to a piwis or a duramteric software?

POST 4Original post

I think the easiest thing that you can do yourself is to clean your mass air flow (MAF) sensor and also your throttle body. You can buy some electronic cleaner for the MAF at any radio shack or auto parts store, and of course throttle body cleaner can be purchased just about anywhere these days. Give them both a thorough cleaning and see if that resolves your issue first. If not, photo25's recommendation seems pretty reasonable to undertake next.

POST 5Original post

I second this I had an annoying rough idle and CEL a couple of times until I cleaned my MAF...
