Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Came to find out later that my wife had cleaned the ***** with some OTC cleaner which "ate" into the **** material (at least that's what I was told by the knowledgeable folks on this board).

I also had meltdown on my ***** and had them replaced thru the North America Becker dealer.

I use meguiar's protectant, it's a black spray bottle and the contents are creamy white.

Suggestion
For leather, I've tried Lexol, but currently using Meguiar's leather conditioning and cleaning wipes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My two little CD220 ***** have started to "melt" into a gummy-sticky substance. The vehicle has not been left exposed in the sun nor extreme heat. Aside from generic global warming is there a cause for this? And what is the remedy? Can these little rubber ***** be replaced individually without replacing the entire unit? They pop right off and back on again. Crazy!
Ahh...I see mine wasn't the only instance of this "melt-down." I had the exact same problem last year and couldn't figure out why since I barely even park outside in the sun. Came to find out later that my wife had cleaned the ***** with some OTC cleaner which "ate" into the **** material (at least that's what I was told by the knowledgeable folks on this board). I searched with no luck for only the replacement ***** for a while. Luckily, my brother later upgraded his Boxster's audio system, so he gave me his identical factory unit.
I also had meltdown on my ***** and had them replaced thru the North America Becker dealer. Whoever said DONT use Armoral or any other OTC cleaner on them is correct. They turn stickey and gooey after an application of Armoral...that requires you to replace them. There's no solution or process for reversing the degredation of the rubber ***** once it occurs.
I ordered replacement ***** from

for $4.00 each plus shipping. They have a ready supply..............Chuck
This is a very common problem, documented in many, many threads here, and on RennTech. I got my replacements from Becker USA, and believe they were cheap compared to the reported SW Stereo price.
$5.80 + mailing. Take a look here:
Becker of N.A.
I had the same problem and just last night tried some GOO GONE and worked great. It was just last night ....so lets see if the problem get worse down the road. I thought that the outer surface was coming off, but a friend told me it is gunk build up on the ***** and a good cleaner will take it off. I found this to be true.
Use Murphy's oil soap and water mix 10\1. It works wonder on everthing from leather to vinyl.......I even use it on my wheels and windows. This stuff works awesome. Give it a try.
I only clean interior with water. And make my wife wash the lotion off her hands before a ride, that stuff eats that rubbery coating on interior parts ruined the radio buttons on the steering wheel in 'her' last car
I use meguiar's protectant, it's a black spray bottle and the contents are creamy white.
It's not overly glossy and lasts well.
For leather, I've tried Lexol, but currently using Meguiar's leather conditioning and cleaning wipes.
They're wipes in a roll inside a dispensing plastic bottle.
Sorry I don't have the exact marketing name for the above 2 products, I'm at work now.
I second Vinylex. tried lots of products, this stuff was the best of all those tried. You can buy it in 3 liter bottles and save over 50% over the small spray bottles.
Save the inexpensive Armorall for wheel wells, front splitter, etc.
