Suggestion

When I got the car back, the clutch released a lot smoother and the shifting is much better (due to cleaning the splines).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Happened to me today. Driving it all the time, you kind of get accustomed to having it. However, I sometimes just have a day where I just start to love this thing like when I first bought it. Just rambling and thought I would post. Wonder if any others have similar experiences.

POST 2Original post

My daily driver is a sedan, so it's hard to lose my feelings for the 911. I especially have it as I'm washing/detailing her.

POST 3Original post

I drive my p-car mostly on w/ends, so I don't get to drive it a whole lot .... this actually turns out to be bad and good news. Bad in that I don't get as much seat time as I would like. My daily driver is quite different, but still a terrific car (500CLK - lot's of grunt!) so I'm not particularly hard done by and I get pretty comforable driving the MB. The good news about having the garage queen though, and as good as the MB is, every time I get back in the Porsche it's still as sweet as the first time.

POST 4Original post

The reason I use my Targa as a daily driver is precisely because I fall in love with it again every day. I've had plenty of more comfortable and very capable cars. None has ever given me the visceral thrill of simply driving that either my previous '95 968 or now my 911 has. I guess it just runs in my blood. That, and props to my wife who is a spirited driver in the car and doesn't hesitate to find things on the weekend to do where she can take it out for a spin. Not much more attractive than a woman who can appreciate one of your passions. Enough rambling. Think I'll go out for lunch today...... Piccia '02 Targa

POST 5Original post

That is one of the main reasons I purchased a daily driver due to the fact then when I drive my 996, its a brand new experience. If I was to use my 996 on a daily basis the fun factor would be lost.

POST 6Original post

Last night. I have been so busy lately I have had little time to really "drive" the car. I drive to work in it every day, but that is a 2 mile commute. Anyway, we have had rain and heat, and I have had work so I have neglected her a bit. Yesterday I got off a bit early, and as I was approaching the car in the parking garage the light was hitting it to wear I could see nothing but micro marring and scratches, the paint looked faded and crappy, the inside dirty. I got her home and washed, clayed, pokished, sealed and gave her a couple of coats of P21S carnauba. WOW this thing looks showroom new again. I also conditioned the leather, and it felt awesome getting into me new car all over again. Took the long way to work this morning to let he stretch the legs a bit, and am going to take her out this evening as well.

POST 7Original post

BTW-I will try post a few pics of my work later.

POST 8Original post

I experienced this last night - it was 75 degrees when I left the office at 7:15pm, traffic was lighter than normal, I had the top down and was able to average 85 mph on my 23 mile commute. We've been in such a heat wave that I have been keeping the top up. Last night was awesome.

POST 9Original post

ok, man...go to HELL with your 75 degrees!!! It hasn't been 75 degrees in Dallas in at least 10 years (or so it seems)

POST 10Original post

Yesterday! I was in Hawaii for two weeks and had a Chrysler Sebring Convertible. It got me from point A to point B and was great for sight seeing with the top down, but that's about it. The only good thing was being able to search for a parking spot based on the sole criteria of the car being able to fit in the spot! Knowing the 911 was waiting for a good drive when I got home made the end of my vacation much easier to deal with.

POST 11Original post

My vacation timing worked out well, I missed all of the 110 degree heat in Northern California while I was gone. I was also able to drop the top and enjoy the sunshine in 70 to 80 degree wheather when I got back home!

POST 12Original post

I took my '02 into the dealer to get a new Climatronic control unit and they told me the RMS and intermediate shaft were leaking, which they then fixed. When I got the car back, the clutch released a lot smoother and the shifting is much better (due to cleaning the splines). It's like a completely different car. Bill

Every time I walk into the garage with the Pcar key in hand...

POST 14Original post

blk on blk: What do you conditiion the car leather with? Seats too .. or only dash / doors only?

POST 15Original post

blk on blk - do you polish by hand or with an electric polisher?

POST 16Original post

I'm glad you guys are here. I was beginning to think I was a little weird with my feelings about my 996. Don't get me wrong, I like my 986 and it is a fun little daily driver, but it really isn't comparable to my silver EVOMS Supercharged 996. I almost always back the 996 into the garage. Every night, as I am pulling into my cove, I raise the garage door from about 2 houses away, by the time I reach the driveway, there sits my 996 at just the right angle as its little brother's lights bounce off of it. My eyes always light up when I see it sitting there, and I can't believe how fortunate I am to own not one, but two P-cars. The part that makes me think I'm a little weird is that when I get out of the 986, I always reach over and touch the 996 and tell her Hello. Seeing it and driving it really do give me a weird feeling inside, that I can truly only compare to falling in love. Weird, I know, but I also don't care, I'm just happy.
