On a separate note, I have heard that SRF's high wet boiling temp is due to the fact that it has very unique ways of handling water.
Leading evidence: 'fact' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'fact' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install pagid r19 pads and castrol race fluid' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Excuse my ignorance but I am about to have fitted pagid R19 pads and Castrol race fluid for the next track day (and everyday use thereafter).

Suggestion
The good thing about the ATE is you can leave it in there for a much longer period of time (one year or more) than the Motul, which should be changed every 3-4 months maximum.

Suggestion
Since you are using Castrol SRF, you may not even need to bleed the fluid even if you have had a track event since the last time you bled, but, why not since it is so incredibly easy .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For those people doing the odd track day. Have you changed your brake fluid to a race fuid. I am being told that this is a must if my brakes and I are to survive a day at the track.
If you drive hard, you will enjoy a harder pedal with racing fluid. ATE Super Blue and Amber (same stuff, two colors to make flushing evident) or Motul 600 Racing fluid are good choices. Castrol SRF is a bit better than the Motul but costs a lot more.
Just flushed my system with Super Blue for the first DE event in April. Cheep insurance. Bob and TD, what is the deal with SRF? Any downside to using it?
the only downside is $$$$$$$$$$. Arguably, it is overkill for most applications. I like it on dual use heavy cars like my 996. I do not need to bleed between run sessions, and I don't even really need to bleed before specific events
For example, if I have back to back weekend events, with SRF you really don't have any brake fade whatsoever, even if you do not bleed the brakes between events. That said, it is always better to bleed before events.
Excuse my ignorance but I am about to have fitted pagid R19 pads and Castrol race fluid for the next track day (and everyday use thereafter). Why should I bleed the brakes before a trackday?
Bleeding the brakes before a track event is cheap insurance. You can remove any air bubbles in the fluid that might make the puddle spongy. If you haven't done an event since you changed fluid and pads, you may not need to. Since you are using Castrol SRF, you may not even need to bleed the fluid even if you have had a track event since the last time you bled, but, why not since it is so incredibly easy . . .
Brake Fluid is Hydroscopic (It absorbs moisture), and wet brake fluid has a lower boiling point than dry brake fluid.
Moisture gets into the system by permeation through the rubber and plastic parts of the brake system.
True, but SRF has such a high wet boiling point that you can get away with fewer bleeds if you want. That said, it is so easy to bleed, there is no reason not to.
On a separate note, I have heard that SRF's high wet boiling temp is due to the fact that it has very unique ways of handling water. I am not entirely sure what that means for dual purpose street/track cars over the long term.
As a requirement for participating in a track day or DE, car inspections should be required. If they aren't, I wouldn't go near it. Otherwise, you have no assurance of what defects are in the cars out there with you. As part of the inspection, freshly bled brake fluid (within 30-60 days) should be required. If it isn't, I would pass on the event for the reasons above.
I've used both the ATE and Motul 600. The good thing about the ATE is you can leave it in there for a much longer period of time (one year or more) than the Motul, which should be changed every 3-4 months maximum. The Motul when fresh has a much higher boiling temp. than the ATE, so it is better than the ATE for track days. However, water has a much more detrimental effect on it than the ATE. That is why it must be changed more frequently.
