Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I added a third set screw and used loctite on all three for the EVO shift link.
Leading evidence: 'Use loctite' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust connector' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
It slides into the short adjusting connector which is not threaded and is held in with set screw.

Suggestion
I really don't think the set screw is going to work loose so I have no problem recommending it.

Suggestion · Original poster
With the AP unit having a set screw, he's concerned that could be a problem down the road.

Suggestion
Apparantly, at least in this case, not well enough since the tips of the set screws are not narow enought to fit between the threads, so the screws end up holding the cable secure by pressure only.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Going to have an OEM SSK installed - likely by my dealer. Yeah, I know -- DIY, etc. Anyway, I want to upgrade the linkage as well, as many of you have done. Vivid Racing carries the Agency Power linkage, which is priced right. The service manager at Brandywine Porsche recommends the Evolution Motorsports unit, claiming it is threaded and won't cause slippage of the cable linkage. With the AP unit having a set screw, he's concerned that could be a problem down the road. My question, is either unit OK or does one have clear advantage over the other? I'm assured that either will work with the OEM SSK. Thanks for your advice!!
Pic is from today with 2 fresh coats of Zaino Z2 (1st coat w/ FX accelerator). Atlas is a great color for the C4S!
Thanks!

I got the AP linkage from Vivid when I did my SSK. Great improvement. I really don't think the set screw is going to work loose so I have no problem recommending it. I don't know about the Evolution part.
I have the EVO and funny you should mention the threaded linkage now. Just last weekend, banging the gears from 1st to 2nd, linkage came out and I was without a gear. This after 2 years of no problems. Upon inspection, the right cable (which is threaded) is attached to the adjustable connector end by simply sliding it in the UNTHREADED female end of the connector. It is held in place by 2 set screws that are tightened down against the treads on the cable. obviously, they either vibrate lose or, from the marking on the cable thread, they do not hold tightly enough.
Problem was corrected by drilling a recess in the treads where the set screws fit and using lock-tite on the screws.
I'll probably get flamed for this, but when I researched the linkage part (last year) I found several posts where the linkage was tested in SSK application and there was no measurable or noticeable difference in the performance of the shifter. I did not get the part, but love the SSK (B&M).
The end of the cable (circled) is threaded about 1/2 inch. It slides into the short adjusting connector which is not threaded and is held in with set screw. The threads help the set screws to hold the cable secures. Apparantly, at least in this case, not well enough since the tips of the set screws are not narow enought to fit between the threads, so the screws end up holding the cable secure by pressure only. Either flattening or drilling a hole where the screws fit against the threads will eliminate any chance of it slipping out again.

I added a third set screw and used loctite on all three for the EVO shift link. I now see that you have the EVO short shift. I have not put one in in many years. Does it have a provision for a third set screw?
Damn you guys are rough! Power shifting or what
? Seriously in all the high HP and tracked cars we've usually just done the B&M SSk and left it at that. I've never had them break or seen a car that had done so... They look like nice pieces but remember you do have to sort of butcher your shifter cable.
