The bearing looks and acts like a clutch pilot bearing so I have been using a pilot bearing removal tool so far with no luck, Any guidance or tips would be helpful.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello I am trying to remove my shifter fork needle bearing and having a bear of a time, so much so that the lip has now broken off. The bearing looks and acts like a clutch pilot bearing so I have been using a pilot bearing removal tool so far with no luck, Any guidance or tips would be helpful. The bearing on the left is what it looked like before I destroyed the one on the right trying to remove it from the case.

POST 2Original post

You need something like this https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...4AySGzZBzNcdBl Make sure you find and remove all those small ball bearings, they will have fallen in the differential section, if just one of those finds it way into a critical place it will be game over.

POST 3Original post

U can use a die grinder to carfully cut a slot in the bearing shell. It will then pull right out. Even if u nick the aluminum it wont hurt anything.

POST 4Original post

I take bearing races out by zapping a tiny weld in the middle of the race, when the weld cools it contracts the race,, not sure if you have room for that,, but there's the thought..

POST 6Original post

Blind hole bearing puller, Autozone, Probably $150 for a complete set. But why are you doing this?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Used a small dremmel and cut the race out. Not fun but its done. I damaged it when I replaced my 1-2 synchro
