Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While replacing the alternator on my 2003 996, I broke the locking tab on the plug that connects to the back of the alternator. Can anyone tell me where to find a replacement? Thanks.

Ug,, You might check with one of the Porsche Wrecking yard see if they can just pull that harness for you.. You should be able to carefully pull the pins by releasing them with a paperclip or small probe tool. have to get yours off and the donor harness one .. I needed one for a VW once,, the dealer only offered up a entire engine harness for about 500 bucks..

For anyone who has the same problem I did and stumbles on this post, here is the solution I found. A part number for a connector that will work is 4D0971992. This shows up as a horn connector plug (believe it or not) for several VW and Audi models. It is relatively cheap and available from many sources, e.g. Amazon Amazon

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
