Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It will change the sound, but I don't buy the 8-12HP change either.

I saw the video.....8-12 HP gain?......lord have mercy....show me the dyno results with the claim.....I am very doubtful a hose change will increase 0.01HP....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I thought I'd pass on for any Carrera guys, nice kit. I know some guys DIY these but clean components I don't mind paying for.

I've seen this before and at first thought the package included an airbox, but all you get is the intake hose, clamps, and cap for $89. You can purchase similar intake hose kits on eBay and Amazon for around $50. Personally, I'd just stick to the factory setup. If you really wanted an upgrade, then move to the factory 997 airbox.
The eBay hose kits suck. I bought one and it would not line up at all no matter what adjustments were made and ultimately went with a Fabspeed intake kit that cost loads more than the FSI kit in this thread. So provided this kit installs as it should (all FSI products Ive purchased so far certainly do), this is a pretty good deal. Just providing some insight from an informed perspective for anyone considering.
Install went smooth, I like the block off cap, it's very tight and has an o-ring. It feels and looks high quality. I've never been a fan of using an old oil cap with a worm clamp on a Porsche. I'm not eating ramen for dinner.
You can install a plastic plug in the factory intake and block off the chamber for next to nothing. Then you can donate the left over money to the local foodbank so they can buy ramen for those that need it.
I saw the video.....8-12 HP gain?......lord have mercy....show me the dyno results with the claim.....I am very doubtful a hose change will increase 0.01HP.... never mind 8-12HP
It will change the sound, but I don't buy the 8-12HP change either.
I don't believe the Fabspeed intake adds that much HP either.
Better sound, yep! Cool looks, yep!! HP...umm...
I have one of these on my car:

Though I bought it direct on eBay direct from Top Speed for $42.50 including shipping. Fit fine, just needed the excess clamp threads cult down a bit and a breather added due to my car being a Tiptronic.
No gains in power, just more intake noise, which is nice given how quiet the 996 is.
Yep. people who buy into these quick hp gain gimmicks might as well install one of these electric supercharger kits at the same time.

or install a "turbonator" air intake booster

You can stuff a rag in the resonance cavity and put the damn thing back the way it was for free with the exact same results - but the butt dyno never lies, right?
The microfiber rag I stuffed into my 996's resonator increased HP by 86 and makes filtration 58.023% more efficient (if we're making up benefits, I want in!)...
