I checked the other side which is in perfect condition and moves a lot less, however there is still quite a bit of play?

3) if the answer to 2 is yes, can anyone share a DIY on how to remove the guts of the headlight from the headlight housing so that I can replace the broken tab?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pulled my headlights out today (996.2) as some of the bulbs werent working and found the internal guts of the headlight are very loose on one side. It looks like the main clip that anchors the internal part of the assembly (the part that holds most of the bulbs) to the inside of the headlight housing is broken, accounting for the movement. I checked the other side which is in perfect condition and moves a lot less, however there is still quite a bit of play? my questions are: 1) is there supposed to be any movement of the internal guts within the headlight housing? 2) is the anchoring clip/tab that Im referring to available separately? 3) if the answer to 2 is yes, can anyone share a DIY on how to remove the guts of the headlight from the headlight housing so that I can replace the broken tab? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I think I have the same problem. So far I've not been able to get the bulb to seat correctly in the receptacle, although it "kinda" fits. And works, for about five minutes, then shuts off. '02 C2. Can't figure out what's wrong, but need to take it apart yet again.

POST 3Original post

Not too many mk2 headlight DIY threads out there. Some pop up where people remove the outer lens in order to mod up the internals (e.g. paint black inside). Unfortunately, these light enclosures are very expensive, even used. The last time I checked, Porsche wanted over $2500 each. They're made by Hella. Maybe you could contact them directly for support?

POST 5Original post

Only Aftermarket I have found for facelift. I have contacted the company to let me know when available. That was 3 months ago. I really wish you could be just the lenses..... The price on the OEM lights is just crazy. I know it is a Porsche, but other lights like 997 are half the price.
