So I popped the center crests (the nice metal OE Porsche center crests) and used clear Contractors glue to glue them to the new center caps.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I bought my car it had original Porsche coloured centre caps on three wheels and one aftermarket (made in Italy). Honestly didn't even notice at first, until the crest fell off one of the OEM ones. At that point I took notice and realize another of the original ones had badly faded, and my OCD tendencies kicked up, so I put all the aftermarket ones on...hey at least all the same I told myself. All good until started to notice them rattling at slow speeds, then spit one out at a track day. Next, I picked up a full set of original Porsche monotone ones. These lasted "almost" the season this year, until I lost yet another one today on a club tour. Now I have one good OEM, one faded OEM, one crest missing OEM, three good Italian aftermarkets and three good OEM monotone ones...anyone with a Porsche Morgan? Sorry for the rant, stupid **** like this drives me mad.

POST 2Original post

When I was putting the wheels on my roller to take to coopduc I heard something fall off as I put on the first wheel. I looked down and it was the darn center cap crest! The two sided tape had dried out. I checked the other three wheels and they all came off with just a fingernail push! I'm glad I checked it. When I get the car back I'll try some super adhesive and see if that works better. Painted crest is probably the only safe solution

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I should have been clearer, last two times, I lost the entire centre cap, not just crest. Yes, there has got to be a better adhesive for the crests too though.

POST 4Original post

My original crests fell off one by one within about 6 months of each other. I replaced the caps with cheap Chinese caps from eBay. At close inspection they look like cheap Chinese caps. From three feet away they look fine. I haven't lost any caps old or new, just the original crests.

POST 5Original post

When I got my new wheels, they came with new center caps and some cruddy center crests. So I popped the center crests (the nice metal OE Porsche center crests) and used clear Contractors glue to glue them to the new center caps. Been in place for over 10 years.

POST 7Original post

Be careful.....paint those bumpers a different color and you’ll have a Magnus Outlaw

But Outlaw - HOW WILL YOU EVER FIND YOUR VALVE STEMS????

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 16222337

Interesting. I have the monochrome ones, have tracked the car for 4 years solid, and driven on the street a lot. Never had one come off. I've removed them dozens of times myself while washing wheels, torquing axle bolts, etc. Wonder if you have a bad set. Are your wheels OE? If they aren't, that could explain why OE caps are not fitting well.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 16237593

Was just about to post the same. I've had the same wheels and center caps since 2009 and not one has flown off after numerous track events and 100k miles driven.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 16237593

Yup, OE wheels, actual Porsche monochrome caps with Porsche part numbers cast in. Picked up yet another set of eBay coloured ones for now. I'd like to have another monochrome as I actually like the look.

can u share the handle of the ebay seller? Thnx

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually Kijiji, but they surely got them from eBay via China https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...dId=1078066079

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just an FYI, I received these today and they are the "made in Italy" ones. Nice tight fit....for now.

POST 16Original post

My caps have not been touched by me in almost 3 years. They dont correctly point to the stems, but I dont want too mess with them because no good deed goes unpunished. For that, they will probably never come loose.
