Suggestion

I made a conversion harness using the stock ECU connector that I unsoldered from the ECU board and a 32pins connector going in the MS so I could keep the factory stock engine harness and dont lose time rewiring everything.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Heres an article about a Turbo with a turbocharged VR6 swap. Its a bit over the top but interesting. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...6-engine-swap/

POST 3Original post

That looks pretty impressive. The 3.2 vr6 from the r32 has quite a unique exhaust note, makes me miss my r32 just thinking about it.

POST 4Original post

Sounds like this... https://engineswapdepot.com/?p=48652 https://speeddensitymotorsports.com/?page_id=255

POST 5Original post

I sold my R32 to buy my 911. I do miss that car.

Thanks! Guess I am gonna have to buy a vr6 now.

POST 7Original post

Very cool, thanks for sharing. This guy is right down the road from me provided hes still in Lewisburg, might just have to seek him out to check out this beast.

POST 8Original post

I once had a GTI with VR6. Had K&N large p-cone (air box removed), ECU flash and Magnaflow exhaust (amongst many other things). It made some nice sounds but was heavy in the front end. It was a fun car though, I wanted a Corrado in those days but couldn't find a good example

POST 9Original post

Hmm.. How much does a VR6 engine cost? Whats it cost to rebuild? Is it easier than a LS? Just mentally comparing ..

POST 10Original post

Cheap !! It was also the base engine on the Porsche Cayenne . I see them on E-bay all the time for ridiculous low prices. Running 3.2's with warranty for $1000-$1500 bucks. You could do like some of the Chevy guys around here do, They take a used LS motor, slap some E-bay turbo on it, make 600-800hp. Then if the motor blows, go buy another $600 LS engine, rinse, repeat !!!!

POST 11Original post

Can you use the factory VR6 Harness? cause I could see programming and the wiring to be a challenge.. A good stand alone is north of 2500 except for a couple of the really cheap / low capability options.

POST 12Original post

Way to go, what would that swap cost vs a replacement on your 996 blown engine?

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 16235061

I agree 100%, Engine Management System is always a "challenge" with any engine swap..

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 16233967

Some of them are getting cheap, I've seen a few in the area that needs some work and its tempting.

POST 15Original post

For engine management I think a megasquirt standalone could do it. Back in the days I used it on my 4age 16v engine with ITBs, COP and a VR sensor to trigger the ignition. I made a conversion harness using the stock ECU connector that I unsoldered from the ECU board and a 32pins connector going in the MS so I could keep the factory stock engine harness and dont lose time rewiring everything. It was plug and play.

POST 16Original post

Would depend on the type of VVT as well,, the 2003 has the dynamic version so it would take a pretty enhanced bit of code to handle that..

Me too. My R32 was a pretty sweet sounding fun ride! Mike
