Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings, I want to move the hvac controls from the lowest position to the one above it where the cd storage tray is now. After researching online and calling Suncoast, it appears that this is not easily accomplished as there is no bezel made to put it there. Does anyone have experience with this change? Basically I want to put an old lowest position storage tray where the hvac is now instead of buying a new storage tray. thanks for reviewing.

POST 2Original post

Not sure what you are contemplating. Maybe a picture of your existing setup would help. The original layout is: HVAC control on top, then radio, then CD storage, then a bottom cubby. It is possible to buy a new cubby and replace the CD storage trays with an additional cubby.

I think he means this: If you are handy with a Dremel and file, it is an easy mod to do. I've done it. Glad I did. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...s-996-a-8.html I used these instructions: http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t...bac6e316f912ca

HVAC controls usually at the top of dash console or bottom of floor console. Rarely in top of floor console, and I've yet to see one bottom of dash console. These pictures were downloaded from Internet and I have no first hand experience with them.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is a photo of the current center stack. Again, I want to move the hvac to where the cd storage is now. it looks like its doable but not as easy as I assumed. Nevertheless, appreciate knowing that it can be done and how.

POST 6Original post

I'm pretty sure the Metra kit comes with the faceplates to do that

Unfortunately, they don't. You have to modify the slot the HVAC slides into, and trim down the face plate trim for the HVAC. Its easy to do, but if the thought of cutting up the center stack makes you nervous, well ...
