Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

when you tighten the screws the sleeves are supposed to spread enough to hold the brackets on.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought my C2 Cab used and it didn't come with a front license plate bracket. I've got "plugs" in the round holes in the front bumper. I understand from various posts in this forum that the Porsche front bumper license plate bracket sometimes falls off. Is it really that flimsy?
Does anyone have experience with installing one? Are there any tips?
I hate doing it, but I just got fined here in D.C. for not having one. I'm sure it ruins the looks.
Advise welcome!
Jeff
Take the 2 screws out of the plate holder and the holder will come right off then remove the 2 rubber mounts that go between the bracket and bumper. Easy as that.
They are not as flimsy as some would imply. I took mine off as soon as I got to my new state (NC) and they don't require front plates. But in NV they did and I even tracked the car pushing 150mph with no problem.
Maybe you didn't put it on right? Better check the install.
Anyway, you could always put the front plate in the windshield like I did and Play "dumb" when questioned by a cop about it. "Aw, gee officer... I didn't know"! I've had two warnings to date from two different cops and it still sits in my windshield. I put four of those square shaped sticky backed clear rubber mounts on the front of the plate and wedge it down inbetween the windshield and the dash on the passenger side.
Hard to put it on wrong ... when you tighten the screws the sleeves are supposed to spread enough to hold the brackets on. Someone else mentioned a nylon insert that's supposed to help.
Its been a problem for me in VA. The bracket is really easy to install like previously mentioned. As Dell points out it stays put at high speeds and is not really an issue...untill it is bumped. My car cover knocks it loose if I am not careful and I have lost it on an autocross course when I hit a cone...now that is embarassing.
There's the high speed oval at the speedway, pahrump (about 120-130 on the straights) and then of course 215 near red rock. Those are back in Vegas.
Then there is VIR out here near me in NC (about 1 hr away) with the LONG back straight that the GT3's and TT's and Cupcars, etc, are eclipsing 170!!!!!
Paul, the banked oval is at Las Vegas Motor Speedway out by Nellis. Pahrump just has the road course. But it has a great new extension taking it to 3.2m with a great new high speed sweeper. Can hit 120-130 easy on it. TERRIFYING!!!!
But the highways near there. 160 is easy
jdearth - Some of the guys on the 997 forum have been getting the Tow Hook License Plate bracket. First link is a pic of the mounting bracket and the second link is a pic of a Cayman with the bracket mounted. I have no experience with this, but wanted to make you aware of an alternate option.
