Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am considering upgrading to a short shift kit. I have heard both good and bad on the site. Most of the bad seems to be its too notchy, etc. Has anyone used the kit from Evolution Motorsports? They say its a modified kit, that reduces travel by 20%, which is less than the other options. But they say it stops the common problem of the "other" kits being too heavy and notchy. The brand in the US i think is called Swiftshift.

POST 2Original post

Upgrading to the SSK will definitely inhance your driving pleasures. B&M SSK seems to be the prefer choice of rennlisters, do a quick search and you will find plenty of reading materials.

POST 3Original post

I have used B&M on my last 3 Porsches. They are, I believe, an invaluable assist for most of us.

POST 4Original post

The notchiness goes away pretty quick. The shifting motion is definetely more defined which I find a positive but if you like shifting through oatmeal leave it as it is.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

JB Great analogy, thanks! I think that might some it up.

POST 7Original post

There is no bad with a SSK. And that's all I gotta say about that.

POST 9Original post

Another option is the B&M undercar SSK (mounts on the tranny). It's adjustable for 15%, 20% or 30% reduction in throw so it gives you some options. I'm pretty happy with mine set at 30%. I believe the B&M console SSK (the more popular version) is between 30-40% throw reduction, but is not adjustable. http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...cat=15&pid=318

POST 10Original post

Get the FVD... silky smooth.. not as notchy as the B&M... the B&M has *very* short throws... the FVD feels like a stock shifter with substantially reduced throws but not unnaturally short like the B&M... IMHO.

POST 11Original post

B&M and install it properly...not notchey at all! The way the car should come stock IMHO.
