Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The other thing to remember is that the torque specification of 130Nm (96 ft-lb) is with the threads of the wheel bolts lubricated with Optimoly TA (Aluminum paste).
Leading evidence: 'Lubricate with optimoly ta (aluminum paste)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust tire pressure' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Had two fronts replaced, and wanted a slow leak repaired on one of the rear's.

Well, my tire rack "approved installed" used a f*ing cord plug to fix the nail hole!

Then I install and torque and adjust tire pressure when I get home.

Porsche specs their steel valve stems for hollow spoke/Technology (not TurboLook design) wheels several mm shorter than the valve stems you'll get from a regular tireshop (always replace rubber stems).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This may sound corny, but it worked for me when I had a place screw up a rim when I had low profile tires on a BMW.
Anything I should specifically tell the tire shop before I give have them
change out my tires.....other than "dont mess up the rims" & is there
any trick to ensuring that??

High resolution pictures of all 4 wheels should be given to the dealer prior to handing them the car. Assume that they WILL damage wheels and ask what their reposnse will be.
I've never had to remove the wheel, but when taking a close look I noticed that one of the five lug nuts was a little different than the standard hexagonal nut, on one of my wheel. I can't remember which (front / rear / port / starboard) wheel it was. It looked more like a gear, with 8-10 teeth. Is there a wrench that can work with such a lug nut?
Also do you guys run 36/44 on 18 inch wheels, or a lower pressure at the rear?
I would do exactly as 1999Porsche said as well as verify from them what the torque they will use is and verify that it is 96 ft-lbs. As long as they have the right equipment you will NOT have your rims scratched but photo proof a priori and a quick come to Jesus talk will let them know what you expect.
Personally I take them my wheel loaded up in the back of the Cayenne so they don't have a chance to scratch them with their impact gun or get a chance to drive the car. Then I install and torque and adjust tire pressure when I get home.
Personally I run 38/42 for the street
Take a picture of the tires with a current newspaper to prove the date you took them - you can put any date you want in a camera, so it's not really "proof". This may sound corny, but it worked for me when I had a place screw up a rim when I had low profile tires on a BMW. Or, take pictures of the rims in their parking lot with their building in the background.
Also, assume they'll put the wrong tire pressure in your tires and tell them what you want. If many Porsche owners don't know what the tire pressure is supposed to be, the guy changing your tires probably won't know.
Agree! mechanic would assume that all tires will only need 32 psi regardless of wheel size/brand, no-more and no-less. To be sure, do it yourself, just recheck all 4 tire pressures and re-adjust to recommended levels. Almost certain that the pressures will be off.
In my last tire change ordeal with tires purchased from Tire Rack and shipped to an "approved" installer, it went waaaaay wrong. My car was only 3 days old, brand new off the showroom floor. Although I failed to take any photos, I thought since it was new, no worries. I guess I should have known that since the tire shop was in "the hood" and I didnt have a warm and fuzzy, walking away with my tires and new car should have been the call. But, I wanted them on the car as I was anxious to see how they felt. Long and short, they scratched 2, 19" rims, and when I showed them what they did, the owner said, "they were already like that, you must have scratched them yourself before you brought the car out." It realy didnt matter to him that the car was brand new. After 2 of his mechanics came out carrying wrenches, I decided it was time to leave and we parted ways with him yeling at me, and me telling him to expect a call from my attorney. I did call my attorney who said , "good luck, not much chance of doing anything about it." Even in small claims, too tough to prove. And oh yeah, I forgot the sign he had hanging in the back of the shop that said "not responsible for damage to rims" was what he kept referring to. I think the moral of my story, if you get any sense that they wont pay to fix the problem they casue, move on. Good luck
Do not trust Tirerack for their recommended intallers, I had my fikse's scratched because I had used one of their 'approved' places. Ask your regional PCA track drivers and they usually know a good place to take it to depending on your location.
If you have Costco do it, they will fill the tires with nitrogen. When I got the car back, they but green valve caps on. It looked so stupid. I asked for the black ones back.
Had two fronts replaced, and wanted a slow leak repaired on one of the rear's. Well, my tire rack "approved installed" used a f*ing cord plug to fix the nail hole! Made no sense, as they already had the car up on the lift for the other tires...they had no reason to skimp and go with the quick fix, but go figure.
Best bet is using a shop you trust via personal recommendation if possible. Not tirerack's.
I already have the tires ordered at Discount Tire.
Replacing my old, discontinued SO3's with the new Pole Position
that will be taking taking their place in the Bridgestone line-up.
Thanks for all the suggestions...........
If you have steel valve stems from Porsche reuse them (they're reuseable). Porsche specs their steel valve stems for hollow spoke/Technology (not TurboLook design) wheels several mm shorter than the valve stems you'll get from a regular tireshop (always replace rubber stems).
