I was thinking of using primer and then plastic dip to somewhat match colors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just finished replacing cylinders, had to bleed the system, took couple hours to get everything working. Mistakes were made while bleeding the system (should of use soft top function just couple inches either way instead of all the way down and up), so had to manually pull top up to add fluid to the pump etc. So after everything is completed, I have two issues. 1. Not sure if it was like that before or not, but when I am trying to close the top, the latch is scratching that piece where the hook or latch thing is supposed to go. It closes successfully only if I guide it in. Is there any fix for it or I have to get PIWIS III? 2. Looks like somehow I scratched driver's side outer trim (or frame). What would be good solution for this? I was thinking of using primer and then plastic dip to somewhat match colors. Or is it tough to find a used one and replace? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

on the second pic just about any generic matte black and then sand with 3000 grit after curing will get a good match, the sanding eliminates the inevitable orange peal effect

POST 3Original post

1) I have the same scratches, but I think it came from the time when the plastic covering over the hook broke off and exposed the metal underneath. 2) I'm guessing sanding the scrathes will help, but for these plastic bits and every other plastic bit on the car, ArmorAll Outlast Trim and Plastic restorer is a miracle worker.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies. It does look like that piece is metal, but covered in some kind of plastic. So I think plasticdip would be the best looking one, but I'll try to do matte black too if plastidip won't work. I think i have a can laying somewhere. As far as guiding the hook into top console. I'll visually inspect that piece to see if something got displaced and hopefully will be able to fix it. Would be nice to have top close without any assistance.
