Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This might be a stupid question, but do I need to cover up the vents that are over the engine when I wash my car? Anything I need to watch out for? Its my first time washing the 996.

POST 2Original post

delirium - If you want to get really **** about washing you car, read the link below. It was written by OCBen on the 997 forum. BTW, some of us think the "OC" part of Ben's screen name stands for Obsessive Compulsive! https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/232170-preventing-fine-micro-scratches-and-keeping-your-new-car-looking-new.html

POST 3Original post

No. What do you think happens when you drive in the rain?

POST 4Original post

no you don't need to cover the engine lid. just don't use a pressure washer - per manual

POST 5Original post

You know the sad thing is I read OCBen's post on washing and I could think of more obsessive things that I do when washing. For example, I use two buckets vs. one. One is rinse only, in other words the soap bucket never gets a dirty mit into it and I empty the rinse bucket once or twice during the wash. I also would never use a synthetic chamios on any of my cars (especially my wife's black car). I only use waffle weave microfiber towels to dry. Oh by the way..no worries about the water getting into the engine area as was posted above.

POST 6Original post

I'm with bet, 2 buckets and only microfiber waffleweave to dry.
