In the track, I use Driven XP9 since it is a low foaming oil.

Suggestion
Maybe because it's fresh oil with a fresh filter and my engine is very clean inside.

Suggestion
It would not be recommended for a car with a stock sump as it would be the lowest point of the engine.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Went out on my first DE this past weekend. Learned quickly that the M96 has oiling issues at high speed cornering and needs some improvements. I am about to order the Bilt Deep Sump with X51 baffles, skid plate for it and some other goodies. Hurt my pants when i saw about 1600 shipped. I was wondering if any knows if LN ever does deals, coupon codes or maybe Rennlist discount?
I did the same mod prior to tracking my C2 at Road Atlanta with its long sweeping turn 12. I don't remember the price being that high. The kit came with the X51 baffle. I did buy the skid plate, which I feel is mandatory, at the same time. I think they were about 1000 total.
I did a quick search and parts geek has the LN 2 quart kit for 704.

The skid plate is $299 on the LN Engineering site.
I'll be honest and say this was my first DE. But as with many I am hooked. There were two major mechanic/track shops on site. I discussed the situation with both and they both suggested the Bilt deep sump with the X51 baffle that LN offers. When i got home i sent LN and email asking the same questions (not indicating what i had already been told at the track). The email response the sent was almost identical to the recommendations at the track. Track prep is not something i am familiar with. I just want to make sure i am protect the stupid expensive motor as much as i can. Seeing oil pressure drop from 4.5 bar to 2.0 bar in the corners as i learned to drive the car is not something i ever want to see again.
Here is what i am looking at...total shipped is 1565.90..... Just to point out, I am aware the oil i am choosing is for street. It's not a daily driver but its also not a dedicated track toy. Driven XP9 will be put in at the track events as well as the Billet washable oil filter.
This isn't super helpful to you
@Mbren1979
, but Pelican Parts just did a sale on LN items. So, does LN ever do sales? Not sure. But I know other vendors have done sales on their LN merchandise. With Black Friday / Cyber Monday coming up maybe you'll find some site-wide deals as well...
You can get the LN Engineering spin on oil filter adapter with two filters off eBay for $147.
As you can see from my post, the LN Engineering deep sump kit is $200 less expensive on Parts Geek.
In the track, I use Driven XP9 since it is a low foaming oil. DT40 is great for regular driving because it has the normal anti-corrosion additives that XP9 doesn't. I have found LN Engineering has the best price on XP9, or close to it.
To answer your original question, LN Engineering does occasionally run specials.
Already have an LN retrofit IMS, Spin on oil filter adapter, magnetic drain plug and filter mag.
Parts Geek is an awesome price....Looks like that may be the way to go.
Thats my plan as well....DT40 has been my go to oil for the past year an a half. Now that i am track addicted XP9 will be the only oil i run on the track
I didn't realize there was a special racing oil filter. I have been running the filters that came with the spin on adapter. I haven't had any oil pressure issues. Maybe because it's fresh oil with a fresh filter and my engine is very clean inside.
Part of the email response i got from them.
"We also recommend while on track that you use the billet washable filter we have listed on our site. This filter has a higher flow rate than the Napa filter which helps to keep parts properly lubricated. "
I spoke to a guy at the track 2 weekends ago who has an M96 996. It was a dedicated track car.
I asked him about his oiling system. He said he has the deep sump with the X51 baffle and he's had zero issue after 10k+ TRACK miles on his engine.
I was shocked. But those are the people I like to learn from.
FYI - The oil filter that goes with the spin-on adapter is a smaller filter than the filter for the stock system. I'd rather have a larger filter than a smaller one especially for track use.
You may also want to try Tarrett Engineering for deep sump parts and baffle. I have the Tarrett deep sump/baffle and the stock oil filter and have had no oiling issues on track.
Correct me if i am wrong, but the deep sump kit on Tarrett's site looks to be LN Engineering's Bilt kit. Even has the same part number.
Also, what is your thought on the washable oil filter vs the O.E.
You're probably right Bren about the Tarrett sump being an LN. It's been several years since I bought mine from Tarrett. I was just throwing out Tarrett as another place to shop.
Regarding washable vs. OE filter, I prefer to simply change the oil & filter frequently and use the OE filter. Doesn't mean the washable filter is inferior. Just my MO with the track car. I change oil/filter every other track weekend.
Look on eBay. They sell open box and return type stuff on eBay. Last thing I bought from them was 2018 but I can't see the name of the eBay store. It was shipped from LN. Same warranty. It wasn't a huge discount but it was discounted.
The metal mesh filters do quite well at filtering and flow, the primary reason
many don't use them is the extra work to clean them.
Some of the most exotic high performance engines out there use them.
They are more work, cleaning one properly requires a ultrasonic cleaner.
They don't give away water in the oil, a regular "paper" filter will cause changes in oil
pressure when wet and when removed has a wrinkled look if there is coolant in the oil.
so the filter spec'ed by LN for the spin on conversion is the small NAPA/Wix 51042. I run the longer 51522. When used with the 2qt deep sump, the filter is not the lowest part. It would not be recommended for a car with a stock sump as it would be the lowest point of the engine.
Thanks for the info. I ordered my deep sump kit and skid plate yesterday from Parts Geek (best deal i could find). I would think a bigger capacity filter would be better so thanks again for the input.
The 1522 will work just fine when paired with the 2 quart deep pump.
The largest filter we could find for the solution is the 1068. That's what I have a few guys with Solutions running on track.
Glad you chimed in. Was hoping to get a thumbs up from the expert. While your stopping by i wanted to ask a question about the deep sump kit once it comes in the mail. I read the instructions on your website for install and was a little confused. I'm sure it will make more sense once i see it in person. It states you remove the 996 swirl pots as they are not used and install the updated 997 versions. I assume the 997 versions are provided and look nothing like the 996?
The Wix HP is equivalent to the Napa Platinum filter. It uses a synthetic media with wire backed pleats. It's a bit more restrictive than the Wix51042 or Napa Gold 1042, so I typically just stick to the Napa Gold / Wix filter over the Platinum/Wix HP.
Sorry it doesn't work for you. We haven't had any complaints about low pressure with our 2 quart deep sump. However, the baffle we supply is unique - it's different from the EBS baffle.
