Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a high quality tape...it definitely wont fail
Leading evidence: 'Use high quality tape...it definitely wont fail' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend which does not require removal of the dash' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have read all the posts. I see the fix recommended which does not require removal of the dash. My question is whether there is someone or a shop that will do the fix for a fee in Nassau or Sufflolk county, NY.? I know it is described as simple, however I have no mechanical aptitude and typically do more damage when I try to tackle a project like this. I do want heat in the worst way.
IMHO: for a shop to do this work, would need to charge "at a minimum" the price for a heater core replacement.....since that job would take you 80-90% of the way there......
Read this thread for some additional tips:

The foam is the true indicator of the problem. You're getting too much cold air which overpowers the heat. One work around - Turn the AC "snowflake" off, dial up the thermostat up to "HI" setting, and then select down or "V" for floor blower, and lastly, the select the recirculate button. That should get you some heat in the meantime.
I would do the frontier medicine fix as posted somewhere here on Rennlist. Just cut an access panel in the plastic and cover the holes in the flap. Doing it by the book is ridiculously involved.
Same as numerous postings discussing access through the heater core but without removing the flap, thus no need to cut off top bushing or release bottom connection inside on passenger side under dash). I was able to apply (good) tape to the mixing metal piece...the narrow exposed side is visible and fairly easy ( as viewed from above through the heater core location); I applied a single piece of tape here; the hidden. wider side of the piece was difficult but doable...cut several short pieces and applied using my hand, reaching into hole (not easy),... but it is fixed, awesome, lots of heat, will be enjoyable to drive in the winter. You can get the flap to rotate for access using the hvac controls in the dash (high heat or high cool); I cycled back and forth to make sure everything was working. My hand is sore. ...there was more involved than I initially thought getting to the heater core...you have to remove everything above it, wiper blades, wiper mechanism, two black supports to the shock towers...all to remove the bracket the mates it all in order the carefully pull the heater core out, straight up vertically. The core is only held in by two very small screws on top. That was yesterday...pleased today.
Location is behind the battery (not under); under plastic cowling, previously removed.
Note all the stuff above the access hole...it all needs to be removed including the black bracket in the middle; all this is completely doable, just carefully unbolting things
All the wiper assembly, strut support arms, and central bracket removed...now the heater core can be pulled out fir access to the metal flap.
Easy to apply tape to these holes; the difficult part is reaching behind to get the other side...cut small pieces of tape and be careful with you hand; be patient
I used a high quality tape...it definitely wont fail
Good job....winter is coming and lukewarm air sometimes is not good enough .... i am amazed that you could reach the other side of the plate and tape it up......I could barely fit my hand in there to install the plate...lol
