Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Discussions that suspect a cause
1

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suspected cause

It looks like you could use a coolant flush anyway, and probably a thermostat and water pump replacement.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What is the diagnosis and treatment, or am I ****ed? Should I take an Uber to work tomorrow? It is a pretty slow leak.

POST 5Original post

My guess would be coolant tank, though not sure from your pics. Water pump would be more center-left than left-left trust me I know. On second look first pic could be water pump as below drive belt ares. Not sure what second pic is showing. I thought the stained area on exhaust header was being displayed. Third look guess water pump.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If I top up my coolant and hope for the best am I dooming myself to trillions of dollars in mechanic fees?

Probably not but if water pumps fully fails it can dump an amazing amount of water and strand you on the side of the road. If unlucky and someone put a metal impeller pump in the car it could destroy the engine block halves. I personally wouldn't take that chance.

If you are mechanically inclined it is a pretty easy job. If you buy a pierburg wayer pump (factory porsche part), factory coolant and a thermostat you should be ubder $500.00. If you take it to a shop it will be $1000.00 or more. Assuming we are correct that its the pump.

POST 9Original post

Make sure nothing is leaking above the pump. I just replaced mine thinking it was leaking and it was not the pump but the return line from the AOS back to the case.

POST 10Original post

It looks like you could use a coolant flush anyway, and probably a thermostat and water pump replacement.
