Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check three' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check three' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So my clamshell is stuck closed with the top open. The manual screw is not opening it and I actually broke the screw trying to open it. Ugh. I have verified the rear latch is unlatched. I think the side latches are unlatched too. I just cannot open the clamshell any way that I try. I have removed the roll bar on the driver side and am contemplating removing the motor that drives the clamshell. Before I do all of that. Are there any suggestions? Any way to remove the clamshell?
There are three latches that hold the clamshell in place. Check all three. Note that they are very difficult to inspect with the top closed.
There is a motor-driven rack-and-pinon system that drives two push-pull bowden cables. These cables drive two sliders at the rear of the car. These sliders open the two latches on the sides of the clamshell, then as they continue moving, they drive the actual motion of the clamshell. (Note, the third latch, in the center rear of the clamshell, is driven by a separate small bowden cable attached directly to the rack gear.)
It's hard to diagnose your problem without more details or photos, but it has to be an issue with the latches or the push-pull cables. If you tried to "manually" actuate the clamshell, you probably broke some components that connect the drive motor to the rack-and-pinon gear mechanism. Using the manual operation procedure can really muck up the system.
Search around in this forum. Others have had issues with stuck latches before.
Thanks for the reply. I got it opened! Not easily. The problem is one of the spring safety clips for the driver side fell off!!! I was able to get my hand in there and unlatch it. But the clamshell would not budge. If I mentioned it before the manual screw also broke off in the drive. Here is what I did if others get into this really nasty situation.
1. removed the driver side roll bar. 6 hex bolts and you have to turn it outwards to the side to pull out. Make sure you unclip the cable before you pull!
2. take the 2 10mm nuts off the motor of the drive mechanism.
3. push the whole mechanism aft and towards the driver side. Remove the two studs holding on the motor. Dont loose the two washers that are there.
4. Carefully pull the motor off and unclip the power. Motor should pull straight off.
5. you will now see a stainless drive the motor shaft fit into. I used a 10 extension without a socket and it fit right in.
6. Try to carefully turn the drive counter-clockwise. Mine didnt budge so I turned it fully clockwise. I heard movement and then went back counter-clockwise and it opened.
now I can get the top to close easily latch and clamshell goes down but it will not fully open so I just think I need to hit the Indy for a calibration. Fingers crossed. Its amazing a $1.00 part almost cost me big money.
