Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello guys, My brother just bought Dan's white 996 from vivid racing. Anyways, the car was in Denver so we bought it and drove it back to tucson, az. Everything was fine until we reached phoenix. Once in Phx, the check engine light came on, and the car ran very sluggish. It would stall a lot if we were idle at a stoplight. Anyways, Once back home, i cleaned the maf, replaced the gas cap, but the Check engine light is still on. I scanned the code and got a P1020 or P0102 fault. Tried clearing it, but it comes back. Do you think that it's a faulty MAF sensor? I also ran another check. The scan tool that i have can measure the airflow from the intake. On my 02 996 it read .56 at idle and when i did it on the other car, it read .12. I'm thinking that it could be a faulty MAF sensor, not getting a proper reading. Remember dans white 996 has a TPC Supercharger. Boy does that thing pull! It's pretty freaking fast. Thanks, Bao\ btw, i'll post pics later. haven't had the time take pics of my car with new wheels as well. also i can get a MAF from autopartswarehouse for 305.00. Dealer in town want's 525.00. Anyother place has it for cheaper?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you firehawk. I just wanted to be sure before i bought a new maf. Damn thing is expensive!

POST 4Original post

Try unplugging the cable connected to the MAF and reseating it. Also check all wires on the cable near the connector to see if a splice came apart.

POST 5Original post

Are you sure the wires properly seated into the MAF's connector ? I had this same issue once and I realised that I'd forgotten to reconnect the MAF cables properly.
