i run R compounds, so braking is already quite high due to the increased grip.

i only ask because i've been running hawk blues for the past 2 years and have been quite satisfied with them, but i'm starting to look around now and wonder if theres a better compound out there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

if your 996 is a dedicated track car and isnt driven on the street? (ok maybe one or twice a year if i have a hot date or something ) i only ask because i've been running hawk blues for the past 2 years and have been quite satisfied with them, but i'm starting to look around now and wonder if theres a better compound out there. i run R compounds, so braking is already quite high due to the increased grip. i may get gt3 brake ducts or make my own for cheap, who knows. i've managed to get a good number of events out of the pads. i've done 4 events on my last set and theres about 1/3 inch pad remaining. pretty much time for upgrading. am i going through pads too fast? i am very hard and aggressive on brakes. i think that explains some of it. plus me and the car weigh 3200lbs total. rotors are beyond dead as well. i don't do any endurance track events so sessions are kept to 25-30minutes tops. so far i go through 2 sets of brake pads for every one set of rotors. am i going through brakes faster than i should be? rotors showing extreme grooving and have a very noticable lip right now. hairline cracks but none connecting holes or extending to the edge of the rotor. what to do?

POST 2Original post

99 996 I had EBC RedStuff Ceramics which lasted 6 days and then the rotors went also after 40k all street miles. I now have frozen rotors and Hawk HP+ with Pilot Cups. The HP+ don't seem to be able to engage ABS but the car does stop competitively with others and rotors look good after 4 days. Lots of pad left, 60%+. Rears wear faster than fronts. The HP+ do squeal pretty bad on the street but not elsewhere. The EBC pads I had don't work when cold on the street and I'd characterise them as dangerous on the street. The EBCs also wear very quickly, 6 days and down to metal.

POST 3Original post

PK, I've used Pagid Oranges in front and Blacks in back for a long time with good results. Jim
