Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Bottom line is that they are coming to my house to get the car...just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem so I can set the dealer in the right direction to look for the problem before they just tell me to buy another battery.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Several months ago my battery died...so I replaced it with an interstate. Incredibly the new battery is now dead!! It worked fine for about 2 months and then I had intermittent problems starting the car and then it just would not start. As I have been insanely busy...I have just left the car in the garage (keep making the absurd payments though). Called the dealer and they were no help...told them someone on this board told me that perhaps there was a bad ignition switch or something else that may be draining the battery but they never heard of any such problems. Bottom line is that they are coming to my house to get the car...just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem so I can set the dealer in the right direction to look for the problem before they just tell me to buy another battery.

POST 2Original post

Unfortunately it can be a number of things. Maybe a bad electrical switch, bad alternator, etc. Electircal problems can be very hard to diagnose and quite costly. Sorry I am not much help. Best if luck. Adam

POST 3Original post

the battery should still be under warrenty. have it replaced and try the new batt. if it still dies, then go looking for bigger problems, but that shold be a good first step.

POST 4Original post

A loose battery cable at the oposite end of the battery will do it, either + or -. Very easy to isolate the problem with a meter and a few checks, let the dealer do it, sounds like you are busy busy.

POST 5Original post

how often do you drive it? if left for a couple of months, the battery will drain. if not driven much. you should get a battery tender. if it's frequently driven, the alternater and battery cable should be checked. are any of interior lights left on?
