I know I could have saved some bucks but was more than happy to overpay to get the job done in one day and didn't want to order before puling that old tank and verifying it was the problem.

If anyone is doing a coolant resevoir explansion tank bottle change replacement ( that should show up in searches ;-) ) then in addition to the article at Renntech, I'd also suggest:

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Coolant expansion bottle for 99-911: $250 Gallon of coolant: $38 The feeling you get when you fix your own Porsche: Priceless. Keith

POST 2Original post

NICE!!! Sorry we could not hook up this weekend... My trip to visit family ended with the Nephew Puking in the back seat of my Denali and one of the nieces slamming their expeditions door into my fender leaving a nice ding... I would have loved to do the swap... I did get mine done this weekend as well. it sure is a tight fit. Where did you buy your expansion tank? I bought mine from sunset I think it was $180. If you need to buy parts I recommend going through Sunset Imports they are always the cheapest in my experience.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Glad you didn't call me after the puking and fender incident.. you probably weren't much fun to be around ;-) I bought the part from Stevenson Porsche. I know I could have saved some bucks but was more than happy to overpay to get the job done in one day and didn't want to order before puling that old tank and verifying it was the problem. I talked to a tech there called Jesse who was a really good guy. He says a brake fluid flush is $149 there which seems good, and I HAVE to get that done.. There is so much moisture in my fluid that it freezes. YES - tight fit.. Jeez! If anyone is doing a coolant resevoir explansion tank bottle change replacement ( that should show up in searches ;-) ) then in addition to the article at Renntech, I'd also suggest: - completely removing the air pump, and not just putting it to one side. It takes 1 minute and gives more space - CAREFULLY removing the sensor under the bottle with a quarter turn when you get a good enough angle to drop it the 2 inches needed to extract it. That gives another 1/2 inch when removing the bottle but I'd say it's so easy to damage, and hard to insert in a tight space that I'd insert it into the new tank before re-installing. Also note that once the single bolt is removed, you only have to slide the tank 1/2 inch to 1 inch towards the engine and it will drop DOWN out of the bracket that it's attached to. You don't have to slide that tank all the way out of the clip - you CAN but it's tough, and you don't have to if you realize that the bracket is designed nicely! Damn but my back was sore Saturday night. Best Keith
