A sound system is far more important than leather to me, yet I bought this car anyway knowing that changing a MOST system was going to entail more money than I could justify.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

IF money was no object was yust wondering if there is A downside. Thanks

POST 3Original post

If money was no object I would get full leather in my CGT. Seriously, what kind of question is this ???

POST 4Original post

I would not get one without the full leather. Go look at one with and without and you will see how cheap the non full leather looks in comparison.

POST 5Original post

I agree 100%. My buddy has an 02 without the full leather and it looks terrible in my opinion. Even my mechanic commented on how finished and high-end it looks compared to the non-leather dash.

Thanks again

POST 7Original post

If money is no object, of course get all leather. There's only a downside if you care about cows.

POST 8Original post

My full supple leather coupe is rich, beautiful and practical. Glad I got it, even with the extra cost.

POST 9Original post

Completely agree. However, accepting this question, the clincher for full leather for me was the look of the rear seats. They're not covered in leather, but in vinyl. It just looked a little too plasticky for me....indeed, I would always leave my seats down if I had the non-full leather package.

POST 10Original post

Its the one non performance option I really wish I had. Dollar for dollar, its also the best value I think of all the options.

POST 11Original post

I would not buy one without full leather. No comparison in the look & feel of the interior.

POST 12Original post

Full Leather + Full Carbon Pkg = Near orgasm during every drive

POST 13Original post

I have full leather and the only issue is when doing DE's with windows down rules and it's raining... Water and leather don't mix. My only regret.

POST 14Original post

Good point and while I would concur that DE's in the rain help learn vital skills in wet weather driving I would NOT run a DE in the rain. Skid pad and wet slamon is what I use that learning for. IMHO, just way too many more possiblities for damage to your car in the wet than the dry.

POST 15Original post

I have full supple leather in my 02 and love it. I don't care for the look of the non-full leather but ithat's just me.

POST 16Original post

Everyon'e mentioned the appearance, and I agree that full leather has no match. But no one's mentioned the smell! Nothing smells better than good quality leather in a fine automobile, and lots of it! I have full supple in my '04 C4S - it was a real selling point for me.

POST 17Original post

The only thing bad about the full leather is that it makes everything else look like a compromise. I kinda got lucky this was standard in the C4S, otherwise I probably would not have ordered it. Now, any future purchases "must have" full leather. Not quite sure I agree with the smell. German leather has a distinctive smell. Porsche has it, as well as MB and BMW. Not bad, but not quite as nice as Italian leather, or even American leather for that matter.

POST 18Original post

I went with a friend to test drive 997's. One with and one without full leather. The plastics must be better in 997's because the extra leather did not make as much an impression on me as it does in the 996. I can't agree with all the "must have" talk here. The full leather is nicer than the standard leather, but it isn't the leather that puts a big smile on my face. I can prove this point. A sound system is far more important than leather to me, yet I bought this car anyway knowing that changing a MOST system was going to entail more money than I could justify.

POST 19Original post

Full leather. It looks good and it just feels right.

POST 20Original post

isn't leather prone to shrinkage? besides the cost, the need for add'l care would be the only other concern. i'd definitely go with full leather if i had the money.

POST 21Original post

Money wasnt the issue when I bought mine, I was just too green, The salesman asked if I wanted it and I said didnt matter just find me a car with the most important options that i needed to have. Well with the 997, I 100% made sure it had full leather...it does anyways but I asked this time
