I agree, that's why I double checked with Porsche parts online.

I learn something new every day thanks to all of you - just trying to figure and learn as much as I can as I restore this thing - I purchased two books on 996 and my judgment is based on what I read and repair on car - truly fun to do especially winter coming on

In fact, wouldn't it require replacing the entire rear of car from back of doors?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have opportunity to purchase 2006 997 Porsche lob claw wheels for my 996 C4
Question is- same bolt pattern?
The off set will be different in rear - spacers required for wide body 996 rear wheels - any and all help appreciate
WTF is 6 inch dish? Lol. The wheel sizes will read something like 18x9 et55 18x11 et45. If you don’t know this information then you are buying at your own risk.
The other question is what model do you have? You said C4 and wide body. A C4 is a narrow body. A C4S is a wide body. Big difference.
I think he is describing the width of the rim of the wheel. Not the overall wheel width. If you look at his pic he has a "deep dish" style HRE 3 pc. wheel.
I agree, it's a shame HRE_Jurrian wants money (and a lot of it) for his wheels instead of harmonica lessons or bad Bill Murray impressions. If I didn't need "other 996 stuff breaking" funds - I would have gone HRE and not TechArt.
I am also interested in an answer. I have a 2001 996 NB Aero and was looking at these:
https://westernmass.craigslist.org/w...406021730.html
The issue is that the seller doesn't list the specifics of the wheels.
Ask them to look for it on the back of the wheel. It will say ET or + and have a number between 35 and 70 typically. Here is a picture off the back of a set of Kosai’s wheels I just sold (M3 fitment).
If you zoom in you will see all of the information you need about the wheel.

Ok. I will. I didn't know if there was a 'standard' size for them. I've already emailed the guy twice, with no response, regarding the other set of the wheels for the winter. If I get a response, I will ask for pictures. Thank you.
I have them on mine. Theyre from a 997 C4S and fitted on my 996 C4S. I have 8mm spacers on all 4, bringing them within 1mm of factory offset.
That being said - they made lobster claws for the cayman I believe that arent the same offset.
Tire size is also critical with your awd
Previous owner installed them. To be honest, I didn't like them when I first saw the car and planned on replacing them - but they've grown on me. I think they look awesome now.
I'm the weird one. I've always liked the lobster claw wheels. Don't change them Charlie!
I also like the non-iconic 996 headlights. People can just sue me. hahaha
You're not alone here. I'm not a fan of the round lights on the newer 911s. The whole nose and front end just looks too plain IMO. The spacing looks wrong. The 996.2 lights are my favorite - they have a nice aggressive look and can't be confused with any other models in the Porsche lineup.

Jesus H, took 'til the 2nd page before somebody pointed that out.
B3 - don't believe everything you read on the internet. Whoever wrote that ad copy . . .
I agree, that's why I double checked with Porsche parts online. That's from Suncoast Porsche Parts online.
Toe-may-toe - Toe-mot-toe... let's call the whole thing off.

Could it be there was *never* an official Porsche designation for these wheels. Just enthusiast slang? All Porsche 997/Boxster brochures say nothing about "lobster" anything.
Just because everyone calls it the wrong thing doesn't make it less stupid to intentionally call it the wrong thing.
Lobster claws are for cracking open and eating.
Lobster forks
, whether on the car or on the table, are devices meant for making life better.
Incidentally, the "lobster claw" wheels don't even look like goddamn lobster claws. The spokes look like lobster tails. If we were naming the wheel after the critter, "lobster tails" would make perfect sense. Instead, the spokes have two "tines" with a gap in the middle.
Just like a lobster fork.
Amazing.
Could go with something a little more fun to say, like "Fondue Forks"? It rolls off the lips better than "Lobster Forks".
Heck, they look the same too and they have a nice rainbow colors which goes along with our unicorn motif. haha
Why is it so hard to admit you were wrong and change your mislabeling ways? B3 has clearly proven that you've been saying it wrong all of these years. Now just own that **** and move on. Lobster Claws!!!!!!
Yes it’s a 99 and C4 is a wide body as it is listed C4S came later - the rear’s are currently 20 inch by 11 inch width - rides harsh due to low profile- thought these 19’s would be softer ride and closer to stock size
C4 is a narrow body. I’ve gotten 12”’ wheels on a narrow body, that’s not the issue. The issue is the offset will screw you if you buy wide body wheels.
This C4 has an *** bigger than Kardashian's so I am gonna disagree with that comment - narrow body not even close to C4 rear - C4 is in line with Turbo body specs - anybody else want to chime in on this
No one in this thread claimed the C4S was built in the mk1 years. The C4 was made during both the mk1 mk2 series and is a narrow body car Iike standard RWD Carrera 996 cars.
Am I confused, the pics sure don't look like a plain C anything other than a Turbo. In fact the back of the car says "Turbo" in the reflector! Is this the car being asked about or just some random pics.
The plates read California as well - not is all it seems - the gent who sold this C4 put turbo badge and GT 3 wing on car and a bunch of other bits - I have removed that badge the TL body looks fat - only one Porsche logo on hood now
I learn something new every day thanks to all of you - just trying to figure and learn as much as I can as I restore this thing - I purchased two books on 996 and my judgment is based on what I read and repair on car - truly fun to do especially winter coming on
Very...to make it a wide body would be much more than just a reskin! In fact, wouldn't it require replacing the entire rear of car from back of doors? I've seen add-on scoops and bumper covers but actually widening the body I would think incredibly expensive! I can only accept those above being right about C4 and narrow body. They know more than I do about that.
Wow-wee... are you for real? I knew cars like this were out there but now that I know they are real I kind of don't want to believe it. Common to see 5 series badged as an M5, this list goes on, but a Carrera as a Turbo is desperate.
BTW - that looks like a Misha GT2 wing to me.
Do the side intakes go to anything or do they just blow air on the rear wheels.
Here's a '99 C2 roller I just bought with a GT2 body kit. Looks pretty similar.

Wow! That's a beautiful car. You say it's a C4S converted to a Turbo? Can we get some pictures of the engine? Not uncommon for people to modify these carw for turbo induction, but this one looks totally like a factory 996 turbo. Most of the time people cut corners on the rear deck lid, intercooler vents, and cosmetic features, but it looks great. That color.. what is that color? Wow... very nice.
I had the Euro Glass H4 lights on my 69, they are still my favorite.. But I don't mind the style of my current 996 Cab C4..
That light unit is way over engineered though,, I prefer wiring that stays connected so I can test out of the car..
