So I have changed my upper and lower control arms which were worn out and squeaking once the car warmed up and I got bumps.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 03 C4S has a squeak and clunk near the front when I go over bumps while going slow. It also seems to get worse after driving for a while (why is that)?. I have 80K mikes. I have not gotten under it but Im thinking front control arms. Has anyone else has this? What else should I be investigating?

POST 2Original post

I had similar symptoms when the front strut mount bearings failed on my ‘02 C4S.

POST 3Original post

Had same problem and symptoms on 99 c2. New drop links solved it in my case.

POST 4Original post

Many moving parts up front that wear and cause these sounds. The only way to know what it is will be to get it up in the air and start looking, grabbing and pulling...maybe even a rubber mallet to bang with. I'm getting some creaking in the rear and some rattles up front but everything looks and feels solid. I suspect my top-mount bearings up top may be the issue.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I have changed my upper and lower control arms which were worn out and squeaking once the car warmed up and I got bumps. Now I have the exact opposite issue. They make a similar sound when cold and once I've been driving a while the suspension noise goes away. Does anyone else have these sounds when cold?
