Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm not good with electrical stuff, so I don't know how to test each coil in the window for continuous voltage, or how I'd fix it if i did find an issue.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know where the wiring harness would be located for the rear defrosters? The top half of my defrosters does not work. I'm not good with electrical stuff, so I don't know how to test each coil in the window for continuous voltage, or how I'd fix it if i did find an issue. I'm wondering if there's any clips or wiring that might be loose, and not the actual coils itself. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

There are only 2 connections on my cab 1 at each edge, In all my german cars I've eventually had to buy a bottle of thermal trace repair, it looks like silver/brown fingernail polish, You have to look at each wire and find the places the trace has come off and re-paint the line. Overstuffing the back of a porsche or bug is bad mojo if it rubs on the window. That being said my 996 is fine.. Probably because the window is not a pain in the rear to get at and I don't know for sure if the traces are surface or embedded.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

PDX, are your plugs visible inside the car? I dont see any wiring or plugs anywhere. Before I rip apart some interior parts I was hoping to get a starting point.

POST 4Original post

I have a cab with a hard top ,,, So may not apply, The Hard top I cant see a connector either,, But on other cars its just a wire pigtail soldered to a pad on the glass... You should be able to see the traces in the glass and they come together on the ends or the top and bottom of the glass. The defroster often has 2 fuses, one for the main feed to its relay and and one for the wire from the relay to the window. I havnt had to fix the Porsche (Yet) but good luck!
