I don't remember noticing that on my test drives before I bought the car, but then it's possible it was ongoing and I just didn't notice.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ambient temperatures ranging 60-75F, mostly gentle highway cruising, but even rolling around parking decks or easy driving around city streets, temp gauge hangs out around 4-5 unless I'm just totally idling or coasting in neutral. I don't remember noticing that on my test drives before I bought the car, but then it's possible it was ongoing and I just didn't notice. Just had my oil changed - they did 5W40 synthetic. Normal or abnormal?

What? Are you referring to pressure? I'm very confused by the majority of your question. WOT is between 180F and 200F as far as I know. The thermostat in the engine opens also opens at 180F. Oil pressure at WOT should vary directly with throttle. 4-5bar while accelerating, and 1-2bar while idling, for example.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

oh boy. my ignorance is showing itself. yes, that one.... the pressure gauge. please forgive me, day two of ownership, I'm a moron, etc etc. 4-5 bars while cruising . ~2 or so at idle, almost 5 while accelerating. normal or abnormal?

POST 7Original post

Dont feel too bad. The older cars used to actually say Druck Pressure on the gauge, which of course, is clear as mud, even if you speak both German and English. Druck means pressure, so it was oil pressure pressure.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
