Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Have a coupe, not a cab but like others have said you only hear a nice rumble under acceleration (not that loud) and virtually no change in sound when at cruising speed.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will this mod be to loud for a cabrio? I realize that what may be too loud for one may not be for another. Mainly looking for everyone's opinion.

POST 2Original post

No Nice burble on start up and under hard exceleration only. Cruising sound is only minor increase. I have it on my 997 Cab.

POST 3Original post

No I don't think so. I have a c2 and with all the windows down and sunroof open the volume is still pretty moderate. I actually wish it was a bit louder If anything, I think the volume will be perfect with a cabrio.

POST 5Original post

Yup, it's quite entertaining with roof up or down. For me that is, not sure what the neighbours think.

POST 7Original post

I have them on my cab and absolutely love the sound.

POST 9Original post

you get a better appreciation of the Fister mod in a Cab, in my opinion. Have an '04 which I acquired 4 years ago. Fister mod was the first I did after purchase. Have been satisfied with it ever since. Great sound while accelerating while still docile when cruising. Love the sound every time I accelerate.

POST 10Original post

What Sonoma said. I have Fister Cans on my Cab, and love them!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All, thanks for everyone's input.

POST 12Original post

I have them on my cab and cannot get enough of the sound! It's intoxicating!

POST 13Original post

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nk5mQL78TY I've had them on my 2001 C4 Cab for 6 years. Can get enough of the sound under hard acceleration.. Best mod ever.

POST 14Original post

OK, I'm going to be the guy who says that my exhaust is pretty loud. Keep in mind I had a Harley with pretty loud pipes. I call mine the Gundo Hack. With the top up, it sounds great. But drop the windows or drop the top, and it's WAY louder and therefore, quite loud outside. It's over 100dB behind the car at WOT 6 feet away.

Did you have the exhaust modified by Fister in California or did you have a "hack" job? Btw, who stands 6 feet away from a car at WOT?

I removed the mufflers and a local shop did the hack job.

POST 17Original post

Thanks for the video, @babylonboots; this jumped a few spots up my to-do list!

POST 18Original post

With mine I had them shop do the Gundo version that mimics PSE. Not too loud in the cabriolet. I believe the Fister style is a bit louder.

POST 19Original post

Just had mine swapped out yesterday with Fister D's. Louder than I expected. Thats with the top and windows up. With windows down, Id say its almost twice as loud as the originals, when your above say 3k. Below that its only slightly noticeable. Darin mentioned to me that he thought the 3.4L cars sounded the best due to their muffler design. YMMV.
