Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
The only thing I can think of is to set the seat where you want it, then disconnect the battery for awhile.

If so, it's just a matter of setting seat and mirrors where you want with car running, then hold #1 seat button and the "key" button on the control panel down on the floor on your left.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'd understood from other threads that the key has to be in the ignition and in the on position, which didn't work for me.
My “new” car wants to remember some short bastard’s seat/mirror positioning. Whenever I get in it moves the seat to his spot. I have tried to re-program the key and give it a new memory numerous times to no avail. Is there any way to just disable this whole system so the stupid seat stays where I put it?? Alternatively any pro tips for giving it new memory settings?
EDIT:
Eventually I got this figured out, wanted to put in some guidance in case others find this thread in the future having had the same problem as I've had. I'd understood from other threads that the key has to be in the ignition and in the on position, which didn't work for me. Went through the process again with the engine running and it worked like a champ.
1. Engine on and running
2. Press and hold M
3. Press and release key button while still holding M
3. Release M
4. Press and hold M
5. Press and release memory 1 or 2 button (since I'm the only one that drives this car I put my settings in both positions)
6. Release M
7. Enjoy!
The only thing I can think of is to set the seat where you want it, then disconnect the battery for awhile. The seat memory module will erase the settings with no power. Reconnect battery then put the key in the ignition. Do the M and 1 buttons to set the settings in memory.
Is this a 996.2? If so, it's just a matter of setting seat and mirrors where you want with car running, then hold #1 seat button and the "key" button on the control panel down on the floor on your left. This sets the memory for the remote start. If you want the right mirror to dip to see a curb (I hate it and don't use it but...), do the same procedure with the car in reverse and mirrors set in driving position. This will trigger mirror to dip several degrees when you put it in reverse.
