I replaced the OEM Bose sub with a custom 10 inch box made from MDF.

They were barely used since I only drove the car on weekends with nice weather back in Georgia.

Suggestion
I'm going to be building a sub enclosure for that location in the upcoming weeks using an 8" sub.

Suggestion
I use ported and for an 8" sub you should look at Sundown Audio.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I did some searching and can't find a thread with what I'm looking for. What I'm hoping for is some experiences installing a single sub behind the left rear seat. I use my 911 like a 3 seater, don't want a second sub behind my son. Just want one sub, preferably 8" or larger behind the driver's side rear seat. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I always just build my own, many online sites to work out the enclosure size depending on a sealed or ported box and specs of the speaker you choose. I use ported and for an 8" sub you should look at Sundown Audio. Their 8" outperform most other 10" and 12". I have Sundowns in three of my cars.
I have one behind each seat. I purchased them from Car Audio Innovations (C-A-I). They come with 8" Kenwood drivers. They sound great! You lose a tiny bit of leg room , maybe 1.5 - 2". I may be willing to part with my driver side one as I only bought it after having sat in the passenger seat and got a back massage. I figured I'd get one for the drivers side to feel the same massage. The car sounds just a good with 1 sub IMO.
Edit: I just re-read your post. You're looking for something behind the rear seat. My bad.
Thanks. I'd still like a picture. Not sure what you're describing. 1.5-2" of legroom in the rear, or front? If you have something that will go in the back seat behind the driver, I could be interested. Need to see it
Thanks for the tip on Sundown. I don't have the skills to build my own but may end up having someone else do it.
Awesome, will do. Thanks.
When it clears up weather wise, I'll get you some pics. You lose a little leg room up front. Unless the driver is under 5.5, there will be no legroom in the back seat, meaning the sub sits right below the rear seat cushion and touches the back of the front seat.
It's a possibility. I don't mind losing the driver's side back seat. I do mind losing leg room though. I'll play with the seat and see if I will miss them.
Again, another reason to consider making your own box. The box can be in any configuration (so you can design it to fit behind seat without loosing leg room by simply changing the height and minimizing depth) as long as you have the volume within box for the speaker of your choice. Not nearly as difficult as it seams.
I replaced the OEM Bose sub with a custom 10 inch box made from MDF. It fits exactly where the BOSE would fit. I've got that for sale if anyone is interested in it and another 10 inch enclosure that goes in the passenger side footwell.
I'm new to 911's, been in other sports cars all my life, and I don't have the Bose system. I'd love to know exactly what it looks like, and what it looks like installed. Very interested.
Let me send you a link to my Ebay ad for both of those enclosures.
This fits over the rear deck of a 996 coupe only (not convertibles).
If you have a convertible then this may help but it will fit all kinds of 996 (coupes, convertible)
This came out of my 2002 911 Turbo which I no longer have. Both enclosures and including subwoofers were brand new. They were barely used since I only drove the car on weekends with nice weather back in Georgia. (I don't live there anymore) which was a total of less than 6 months out of the year since I wasn't home much.
