This is not a probability of success.

I know there were RMS issues in some of the earlier cars, but I'm assuming with that kind of mileage, that issue was either already resolved, or it wasn't an issue with this car.

i checked into this car also and if i recall it did show an accident if you checked close- not positive but i remeber thinking if this car had the model delete or got hit and they didnt put the emblem on.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Saw a 2002 996 for sale in my area for a really, really low price. I wonder if it is worth looking into. The main use of the car would be DE's and Autocross, and possibly Club Racing in the future. Some details: 2002 Carrera Color: Grey on Black Mileage: 78,927 6 Speed manual Xenon lights Here's a couple of shots of the car: I know there were RMS issues in some of the earlier cars, but I'm assuming with that kind of mileage, that issue was either already resolved, or it wasn't an issue with this car. Yes, it sounds like a lot of miles on a 2002 model, but it turns out to an average of 16,000 miles per year. A friend of mine saw the car, and besides the bald rear tires, he said there was a "non-Porsche" smell in the car. Thinking it may be a Katrina car, I checked the VIN against the National Insurance Crime Bureau site, and it came up clean. (Next will be a CARFAX - which already shows 7 entries.) Anything specific that I should look for in the car? If I pursue this, I will get a PPI done to uncover any hidden issues. Thanks, -Z-man.

POST 2Original post

I know that car. Has been for sale since the Spring. DO a carfax? See an Accident that they forgot to tell you about? Check it out thoroughly. It needed tires back in the Spring too.

POST 3Original post

Not that it would mean anything but I wonder why the owner shaved off the Carrera emblem...might want to make sure that lid is factory...

POST 5Original post

i own an 87 911..i keep thinking about upgrading to a 993 or 996..i must say that the 02 996 i drove yesterday was amazing..it was soooooo fast..i have been a bit anti 996,but i must admit i like it more than the 997 in some ways...seems to be more raw imho..i love the 993 but for same money,i would go for the 996..993's are getting old and costly.i was very impressed by the 996..j

POST 8Original post

Lanny - that is a nice offer, but something like that is against the Rennlist by laws. It is actually circumventing the income that Carfax might receive from someone wanting a Carfax report. This was covered about 2 months ago in a thread. Please understand that I am not trying to "slam" you. I believe your intentions are good and that you are just trying to help out fellow Rennlist members by making the offer. However, that is something that violates Rennlist rules. I just wanted you to be aware of the situation.
