This is not a probability of success.

I kind of have the same problem....when my tip is in D..there is a vibration....but only when stationary (traffic light, etc) wen I put the car in N...vibration is gone...I thought it was the change in Exhaust tips...because it started when I changed them.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Could the enthusiasts here please shed some lights on the problem with the tip transmission? There is a vibration noise comming from the engine area everytime when engaging the gear lever from P to D/R or N to D/R (it will only whine once) - could it be from the torque converter? No whine at all if the gear is from D/R to P or D/R to N. After the gear is fully engaged in D or R, no noise at all and the transmission is solid like a rock. Do you think this whine sound could be from a bad transmission pump, restricted hose, clogged oil filter or stuck control valve? Do you think the changing of the transmission oil and filter may cure the noise? Your comments are very much appreciated. One more question, for automatic transmission, do you know what components will be activated when moving the gear lever from P or N to D/R? Thanks.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any view? The ATF level is fine and there doesn't seem to be any sign of leaking.

POST 3Original post

I don't understand the whine! You have a vibration and a whine?? And JKB.....enthusiasts.....come in different shapes and forms!! And egoistic enthusiast...drives a stick even when his wife can't drive stick....a rich enthusiast...buys 2 P-cars (one tip for wife--if sh can't drive stick and one stick for himself!!)...I am not egoistic..nor rich....so a tip is was!! Think about this: It is harder to screw up the engine (no over revving!) with a tip!! when you buy used, this might be a plus!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Could it be the transmission pump that is causing the vibration? Does anyone here know where the transmission pump is located? Inside or outside the transmission unit?
