Suggestion

The dealer offered to replace the oil pressure sending unit, but I never got it done--it's such a brief, intermittent problem that I'm not sure I'll mess with it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seemingly at random, my oil pressure gauge has twice conked out and I get the failure notice on the info display. The gauge drops to the bottom, then pops up again. After a couple of fits like that it goes to normal. When operating normally, the pressure is fine. Hoping its an electrical glitch that I can live with for a while. Anyone have this happen to them? POST 2Original post

Check the oil sending unit. May be bad or may have a loose connection.

POST 3Original post

My GT3 has also been doing the same thing lately. The indicator drops to zero for a few seconds and then comes back up.

POST 4Original post

Mines been acting really weird too, but I think its the 15W-50 thickness thats causing my problem. I had ran 0W-40 before and it never occured. Once it warms up, the oil pressure guage goes back to normal.

POST 5Original post

Oil has nothing to do with it (unless you have no oil). Correlation does not imply causation.

POST 8Original post

My car has done this periodically also. The dealer offered to replace the oil pressure sending unit, but I never got it done--it's such a brief, intermittent problem that I'm not sure I'll mess with it. It has not gotten worse, though, over the last 1-2 yrs., so maybe that's a good thing.

POST 9Original post

I just had this problem fixed. It is sending unit's problem.
