Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I finally ran across one that had most of the things I wanted in a 911 and somehow, someway, it ended up in my driveway.
Leading evidence: 'Run across one' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run across one' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ever since I was a kid I've read every car magazine I could get my hands on and considered 911's to be the ultimate car. Last summer I was in California and I rented a new 911 from Hertz, first Porsche I ever drove. Since then I've been scouring car sites like a rabid dog, looking, hoping, and praying that me and the "right one" would cross paths. At this point I can probably recite the details of every 996 and 997 for sale in the country. I finally ran across one that had most of the things I wanted in a 911 and somehow, someway, it ended up in my driveway.
Today I am the proud owner of a 2000 C2 in Guards Red with a Savannah Beige interior with 19,900 miles on the clock. I couldn't be happier, the thing is in great shape.
Good looking C2, wheels & the color combo set it apart. Not sure if this is what you meant but my first drive in a 911 had me thinking over & over "this is the first car I've ever driven!" despite having driven dozens of cars during prior decades. Not exactly sure what prompted such a bizarre thought but think it has something to do with the lack of a glaring compromise? Vettes have bad sight lines, GTRs too heavy, 350z too squirelly, M3 too plain jane, Ferrari too buku, Mercedes too soft/heavy, etc. Nothing I had ever driven handled the task of getting from A to B quite as well. Still feel that way today & the C2 I drove that day just got a fresh wax
. Cheers-
I simply felt that it was a perfect car. I had it for 24 hours, drove it all over the place. Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, out to Rancho Cucamonga, up in the hills, on the highway. It was just perfection. I actually was surprised that I truly think the 996 is even better! Ive driven all the other cars you mentioned as well, each one has a negative when it comes to driving, but the 911 can be a comfortable commuter car one minute and a canyon carver the next. It's just the right size and is incredibly communicative. It's perfect.
here is a picture of the rental:
I share the exact same sentiments as you both indicated, the 996 just feels soooooo right. Fits like a glove and that handling, weight and seating position works on ever level.
Driven many fun cars in the past like many who own a 996 but my 04 AE always brings a smile to my face when I'm behind the wheel or just gazing at it as it sits in the garage.
Hard to imagine parting with it as not sure anything else would fill it's shoes.......ok, maybe a nice 996 GT3 or a new Cayman GT4.
Best of luck with your new to you 996, she's a real beauty....enjoy the ride!

You were a smart kid!! Your 911 looks great, time to enjoy it - congratulations!!
There is a clear connection among many of us owners of 996's. you guys are echoing my sentiments very closely. I drove a 997.1 and 997.2 and deemed them too big for me. The 996 is the perfect cross between the air cooled cars nimbleness and the wasserboxer power and balance. I have only had mine since January, put 5k miles on it and only appreciate it more.
To the OP, that is a pretty car and I think you are going to see that life is better with this beauty in your garage.
