Recently my trunk will not open. I can hear the mechanism clicking, but to no avail. I wait a couple of days and it the opens. Does the hood need to be adjusted or is this the beginning of a failing lock, actuator or something else. Thoughts

Mine started to fail in the same manor. It appeared to be correlated to heat inside of the trunk. Had to wait till morning to retrieve 3 previously hot pizzas; and the wheel nut which would have allowed me reach the emergency release cable. I replaced the actuator, and voila, no more problems delivering hot pizzas to the family.
