Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Back story...My top worked perfect...just worn out (back window leaking). I replaced my top and frame with a used unit from a 2001. Everything went together well. Problem is now when I lower the top wings don't come up into place and clam shell won't lower when putting top down. I've tried manually adjusting the wings, but doesn't help. They go back to the top up position and the clam shell stops mid air. In the top closed position all is well. Any thoughts? Do I need a dealership recalibration? I have not used the emergency crank method, since the top does up fine. I've searched for answers but haven't come across anything that is quite the same situation. Would like to be able to put the hardtop back on. Help is much appreciated!!! Tom

POST 2Original post

I would assume that if you replaced the top, you need a recalibration. Everything moves in a specific sequence, per the microswitches and potentiometers. If something gets out of sync, nothing will move.
