Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all.
I am new to the 996's here and acquired this 2002 911 Carrera. It was well taken care of over the years, 99k miles. I am trying to start it after sitting for 4 months, had a very dead battery (had to do the 12v in the fuse panel trick to get the frunk to pop). Replaced the battery with same exact battery it's been running for 5+ years. VERY slow crank and cannot start. I tested the battery, its fine, no issues. I hook up a thick set of jumper cables to a running car, let it sit for 5-7 minutes, then it will start while still connected to the running car (although can tell it's still straining). Runs OK, but turning it off and trying to start again.... same problem.
I have been surfing the forums but had a hard time trying to find an issue like this one. Anyone please guide me in the right direction?
thanks.
Could be corroded Y-cable that runs to strter and alternator - usually corrods at the starter connection Y-location. If this is the case, replace the cabe.
Electrical engineer here. Here is a way to diagnose the problem. After you jump start the car, remove jumper cables and while engine is still running, what does the voltmeter on the dash say? If the needle doesn't go to 13 or above, your battery is not being charged which is either the starter-alternator cable or the alternator or both. If it is reading above 13, what happens when the engine is warm and the radiator fans come on? If it drops below 13, you have the same problem. Battery is not being properly charged.
I have other diagnostic suggestions but tell me first if you are jumping the car from the jump points in the engine compartment or by attaching cables to the battery? If you are jumping it from the battery, then your connections from the battery to the engine are OK. If you are jumping from the proper jump points in the back, you may have a poor connection from the battery. Need to know which you were using.
