Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyones,
I know that 996 has factory installed front and rear strut tower braces, however will it be tightened up further if additional strut tower braces installed? I used to have an 89' 3.2L with aftermarket front strut tower brace, and it was a huge improvement over stock setup.
Thanks.
There are 2 different uni-body designs for the "front clip" of the 996. The C2 isn't as stiff as the C4, C4S, or the Turbo. It's possible the C2 could/will benefit from a strut tower brace. I don't think the C4/Turbo would as it's extremely stiff to begin with.
IMO
I have a 2003 996 C2.
At 52,000 miles suspension rebuild that include a Techart Front Strut Brace as well as a Dassport Roll Bar that doubles as a rear strut brace.
I can say with no uncertainty that the car is more rigid than before install. There is so much more feedback coming through the wheel when cornering at high speeds. I had two track days with stock suspension and no strut brace or roll bar.
Some of that feedback might be coming from the way the car is planted in the corners now with the suspension upgrade.
But where I can feel it every day, is pulling in or backing out of a driveway or entrance/exit. The car is low so I have to approach at 45 degree angle as to hit the front splitter, you can literally feel the car stay rigid and not flex, more than any of the hundreds of cars I have driven.
Downside, the braces take away from ride comfort when the car becomes more rigid.
Nickshu is correct. Yet, the C2 front is already very rigid. Look under the beauty covers and Look at the bracing and structure. Jack up one side of the car and the other front wheel comes off the ground pretty high. Check out all the on-track images of regular C2 996s with an inside wheel off the surface. The car front end is decently set up out of the box. Braces with flex points/joints are not effective. One-piece braces-yes. The M3 uses a solid bar. Like previously mentioned, roll cages are good because they decrease torsional flex. No twist from front to rear, and helps keep all 4 on the road. Also, the braces are not visible to anyone...no eye candy.
