Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
Since the problem is intermittent, this will be hell to diagnose but throwing parts at it is not the solution.
Leading evidence: 'intermittent' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'intermittent' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check ground strap, and battery terminals' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Complete ignition switch replaced 6 months ago - only two keys on the ring

Stalling, intermittent P0335 code and CEL, engine restarts with a few tries, replaced crank position sensor permanent fixed.

I know why the shop replaced the O2 sensors for you.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 2003 cabriolet has died on me twice while driving. Thankfully I was in a safe place. Scares the hell out of me because my daily commute is on I-95.
CEL comes on. Car is strong and powerful. No unusual sounds. A strange smell however. My Indy scans and it indicated driver side O2 sensor. $1100 later I had all four O2 sensors replaced. I drive home from the shop no issues.
This morning the car starts up immediately. About five minutes away from home it died again but again started up immediately and drove with no issues - no CEL.
Nothing worst that an a car thats unreliable.
Any thoughts?
Ron
Went directly to repair shop and he immediately talked scanner. Car drove without issues. Im at an appointment now and returning to the shop.
Any thoughts?
First thing I would do is make sure your ground cable has a clean connection to the chassis and at the battery.
Clean MAFS. I've had a bad MAFS cause my car to stall.
If it just dies with no codes, it is likely electrical or fuel. Ignition switch and grounds were great suggestions.
Does the car cut off instantly? I had a bad ground on a fuel pump on another car and it would randomly lose power causing me to coast to the side of the road. Losing fuel pressure was not an instantaneous event though.
i vote for fuel pump. I hate to criticize shops because its always popular to do. But your o2 sensors have nothing to do with stalling. I think that is a bit reckless and dumb for a shop to do that thinking it would fix stalling.
Still at my morning appointment.
As soon as I get home will check grounds and especially battery. Had some stereo work being done and picked the car up Monday. Im sure the battery was disconnected during the work (extensive).
Will research ground points and ensure they are clean and tight. Does anyone have the ground point locations handy.
Will also clean the MAF.
No CEL at this point. The car shuts of immediately.
Indy is thinking Crank Sensor Switch at this point but that is without the car being in the shop right now.
You mechanic misdiagnosed the problem and replaced parts that din't cause the stalling. Since the problem is intermittent, this will be hell to diagnose but throwing parts at it is not the solution.
Stereo shop are famous for hacking up wiring and tapping into something they should not have. Not to mention leaving a birds nest behind.
If you had no issues before this, I would trace everything they did.
Also, find a new INDY!
I know why the shop replaced the O2 sensors for you. They could bill you for an easy repair and had an excuse because the CEL gave those codes. They knew it wouldn't fix the issue but the CEL gave them cover.
Sad they do that.
Try doing all the free stuff first.
I do think replacing the fuel pump is never a bad idea if it is the original one. They are old now. It is a preventative maintenance item. I try to replace the things that can potentially leave me stranded somewhere. I take into account the inconvenience, opening yourself up to getting into a bad situation (stuck on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere), and the cost of a tow.
Crank position sensor could be the problem as well. I believe that is a more involved repair though.
You need hook up a proper scanner and a person that knows how to use it to see what is happening when the engine is running. Don't touch anything else or else you can introduce a new problem without realizing it.
Stalling, intermittent P0335 code and CEL, engine restarts with a few tries, replaced crank position sensor permanent fixed. $500 at Indy, Tip transmission adds labor costs.
If zero codes I would look at fuel pump and associated relay and wiring. Have seen one fail in another vehicle and computer wasn't able to detect it and give a code.
Best of Luck.
