This is not a probability of success.

Good news, the stereo is almost out, I didn't have to take out the seats (tiny screwdrivers rock!), and turns out the previous owner of my car installed focals all around.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could help walk me through removing the stereo in my 996. Mine's aftermarket but it looks as if the pathways are more or less the same. There's a navigation module beneath the passenger seat, the head unit, a sattetlite antennae on the dash, and it's all connected to an amp in the trunk. EDIT: I tried searching but it keeps timing out on me.

POST 2Original post

Pictures of your setup would be very helpful. Also brand, model, etc. Although as you say the pathways are similar, every company has proprietary tools for removing their stereos.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Right right. Pioneer AVIC-N2 head unit/navigation Pioneer GEX-P10XMT satellite reciever Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod adapter JL Audio 300/4 amp The "brain" of the navigation system is mounted underneath the passenger seat. GPS attenaes are on the dash, and it's all powered via amp in the luggage compartment. I just need to know how to undo carpeting and trim pieces to remove everything. Thanks, -Ken

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It'd be helpful just to see someone elses DIY install and then I could reverse engineer it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Could someone give me a quick DIY for seat removal?

POST 6Original post

be careful...your amp is mounted to your gas tank....not sure if i would keep it there....heated up amp, hot screws, and those hot screws sitting in gas....I mounted min on the floor of the trunk....

POST 7Original post

well what are you trying to do? remove the system and replace it with a stock system or another aftermarket? It really depends on how the original installer did the work.....

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm trying to change to a new aftermarket system.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good news, the stereo is almost out, I didn't have to take out the seats (tiny screwdrivers rock!), and turns out the previous owner of my car installed focals all around. One last question: The a-piller is just supposed to pop out right? I can't seem to do it.
