Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a very short duration rattle during accleration - as if there is a harmonic rattle due to the engine vibration. It is very similar to the sound that you might get if you had change in your console and then accelerated - it doesn't rattle/vibrate all the time, but you can hear it EVERY TIME at approximately 2000-3000 rpm in first gear , and it reoccurs in second - fifth. Each rattle/vibration lasts only about 1 second, then stops. You can repeat the rattle at standstill just by revving, but it's not always in the same range. [It does not appear to be an engine problem and it's definitely not a persistnet muffler rattle - this is more like loose metal somewhere] In fact, it seemed obvious to me that it was the license plate cover, so I took it off - but that didn't fix it. It really sounds like something is just a bit loose but I can't pinpoint it. Are there any likely candicates for parts to need tightening? It's more annoying than having a splinter in your eye -td

POST 2Original post

I had a very similar problem. Check your heat shields. They line the entire rear bumper and are known to vibrate when they come loose over time. I riveted a few sections toegther that were loose over the drivers side exhaust. Very quite know upon startup and while driving. Nick

POST 3Original post

Check your exhaust clamps - I had that problem with mine - it completely disappeared when tightened. Phil
