Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My wife and I use the hatchback feature all the tiem when going to the grocery store.
Leading evidence: 'Use hatchback feature all the tiem' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Targa is pretty much a Panoramic roof with a hatch back. I think cabs are better since it's really open air.
I haven't heard of leaks. Targa is slightly heavier than cabs though.
Mine has not leaked. The newer targas are very different than the earlier targa tops (they act as a mega "s.roof" in operation vs. installing/reinstalling a roof panel so you don't have wear issues, moulding deterioration, etc.). If memory serves, there are 3 levels of seals around the targa "cassette" which is fixed in place in the new version to ensure they do not leak. The targa opening is almost twice as large as that of the sunroof. It powers open underneath the glass hatch. The glass is tinted, but there is also a power screen if you want to close out the sun more completely, although I rarely use it - then again I leave the s.roofs in my other cars "uncovered" as well, even in the winter.
I believe the hatch feature was new for the 996 model.
I personally haven't noticed the additional 150 lbs. over the coupe to be an issue.
True the Targa is a little heavier than the cab, however it's frame is more rigid.
I love my coupe, but if I were choosing Targa vs Cab, I'd get the Targa....
Different strokes...
Love my '04 996 Targa. No leaks, no noise. It's my daily drive. Having the security of being able to close the roof is great. My wife and I use the hatchback feature all the tiem when going to the grocery store. No notion of it being "heavier" when you drive it, at least not to me. The C4 has quite a bit of extra weight (albeit lower) what with the extra drive shaft and front transaxle, but nobody complains about that. I will definitely switch over to the 997 Targa if and when they arrive....
