This board has been a valuable resource in the search for my 996, thank you.
I am interested in installing the aero kit for my car (minus the wing); what does the kit consist of? I am aware of the sideskirts, but does the entire front bumper need to be replaced, or a front spoiler that attaches to the bottom of the existing bumper?
Thanks,
Mike
996 2001 c2 (blk/tan)
99-01 Aero kit has new front bumper (GT3 style), side skirts, rear "GT" fins, and either the taco wing (ala GT3) or the "Carrera" wing. Just depends on which set up you prefer. I only did the GT3 front and side skirts. Didn't care for the "GT" fins nor the rear carerra wing. Front spoiler can be had as low as $800 or so on eBay if you are patient, and side skirts between $5-600. Painting would be close to around $600-$1000 depending on quality and where you go.
I had the aero kit on my car. Great style and fitment and finish is great since it is OEM. I think the car NEEDS the wing, but my opinion. Here is a pic of the kit on my car. If you need any help with it, PM me.
Where can I find the DIY for install of the flared rockers (side skirts) for an '03 996. Getting them painted and want to install this weekend!! Thanks, Dennis
I have the cab too and am thinking of going with the front and rockers without the tail. Is there a big difference in OEM vs Aftermarket (techart, ruf, ma shaw) for quality?
Sorry for the rookie question - but do they make those for the C4S as well? I would assume the wider body may need different rocker panels? and the bumper design is a little different up front too?
Any one have pics with it on a C4S cab?
Thanks,
Kirk
Mike are you considering the rear flares? I wouldn't recommend the kit without the wing.... Porsche spent tons of time in the wind-tunnels getting it just right..... It's not all about the looks.
-Eli
You can do the front w/o the rear wing but not the rear wing w/o the front. Remember you have a retractable spoiler already on the car that assists with downforce.
Thanks guys,
I have seen front spoilers advertised as well as the entire bumper kit, so I was wondering the benefits of either choices. Ideally, the front spoiler sounds more appealing due to the cost of getting a new bumper. I admit I have not done the research and I appreciate the advise from this board.
The advantage in aerodynamics is a plus, but I just dont like the shape of the wing. I think the carrera wing is a nice choice (any pics with the aero kit?);
Actually, is there a wing that works in conjunction with the existing oem electric spoiler? There is a product on ebay but the shape of wing is very conservative, and is a add-on to the spoiler itself.
Thanks,
Mike

ignore the F/S stuff - it's pretty much if you want to buy it you can - at the right price - other than that don't bother callin' - just like all my cars.
You can check out Carnewal.com. Problem with that is the U.S. dollar versus Euro conversion.
Also check out the Rennlist site sponsors by clicking on "sponsors" at the top right hand side of the screen (above your ID name).
Get a copy of Excellence Magazine. Good P-car publication as well as lots of advertisements for places that sell OEM & aftermarket stuff.
Most of the deals you will find are in Excellence and Pano (mag for PCA members). Other than that, call the usual board favorites......Sunset Porsche in*Oregon, Suncoast in Florida, Brandywine in PA, and Carnewal in Europe.
Dell,
When you mention the 'fins' above, are you talking about those little pieces that attach to the rear bumper just behind the rear wheels? Like you, I have the front bumper and sideskirts, but not the 'fins' or the tail. Exactly what are those fins and how are they attached (bolted over the bumper or a whole new bumper)? I've not seen them in person and they look like they might be a bit flimsy on attachment in photos. But, they do seem to compliment the rocker panels through the rear of the car so I have been thinking on them.
Edward, here is the link to Sandoval's thread that has GREAT pic of the fins.

Here is my old C2 with the aero kit w/o wing. and Aero Kit MKI with MKII wing. Either way the car looks 1000x better then the stock bumper and no skirts. I think the w/o wing look is very classic. The wing will get you the attention + all of the aerodynamic benefits of course. I also added my current C2 with full Aero kit. On the wing if you do it don't forget the small lip! IMHO The MKI aero/GT3 is SEXY as hell!
Hey Sandoval...You should have sold those Techart wheels to me...Bad timing I guess. Now to the post Ihave had the aero kit, with and with out the wing, I like the looks of both ways, I ended up swaping out my front bumper, then I added a different style wing, Do what ever you think looks best, allot of good advise on this board!
Let me know if you need a vendor for the group-buy, I can see what I can do on this purchase of course depends on the number of people we have in the buy......

Hey guys, just remember that these pieces come unpainted so you have to figure the price of painting and installation into the equation. Best of luck with the group buy.
hahah, yeah got the mod bug big time! Hope uncle sam hooks me up on the tax refund!!! I priced out the aero front and side skirts with various retailers and seems like dps and brandywine were pretty good. Getting prices in the $650 range for skirts and $1050 for front bumper. Anyone know where we can get for less? Im sure we have at least 4-5 members so far.
Dayton, do you sell the Cup spoiler lip for the MKI GT3 front bumper? I'm looking for one, I'm also looking for an RS stencil and grill mesh for the intakes. I tried making one on my own but I couldn't get the round edges right. This GT3 front bumper has been sitting in my garage for months...
Dayton,
Thanks, we spoke a month ago and I believe you said the prices may drop even more due to the weakening euro/strengthening dollar. If we are to buy today, what are we looking at for mkI side skirts and front bumper? would u prefer to PM everyone on this post that expressed interest or just post reply?
As you can see, looks like we've got at least 5 interested buyers for either or both items.
Thanks!
I'd like to nail this down during the next week or so. The sooner the better.
The prices posted above seem reasonable, any discount off that would be a bonus...
OK Fellas,
We're good to go! Dayton @ DPS is offering a "rennlist price" for the aero pcs, whether u go sideskirts, aero front bumper or entire kit...u just have to hit him up on PM.
Honestly, I haven't seen better prices from others on oem than what he's offering.
Are we allowed to post prices? IF so, i will post what he's offering. Lets be clear, i am in no way affiliated with DPS or getting any sort of kickback...just lookin' out for us consumers stuck paying retail!!!
EVO 333,
Yes we stock the GT-2 aftermarket fronts for the narrow 996's. Weve sold them in fiberglass for years but we are days away from our first polyeurothane version, its going to be great. I will get you a price Monday.
Cheers
Dayton
i am in for the sideskirts and the aero front bumper!
who do i contact for the prices?
dayton?
also, does anyone have links to good pics for the different options on the car
i have a 99 c2 in arctic silver and REALLY like the look of the aero mk i side skirts and aero front bumper but without the wing.....
sandoval,
in the first 2 pics you have, what exactly is on the car
is it the aero 1 side skirts and front bumper wihtout the wing
if so, that is EXACTLY what i want
i agree with you- it has a timeless quality.
Yeah, a poly GT2 will be sweeeeet! Not stealing any thunder, James, the more the merrier!
Dayton, please PM me with pricing once it comes available. I am very very interested
Won't your insurance cover the accident? If I were you I would take this opportunity to get a new hood and bumper. Find a "helpful" shop that will get a "good" price (i.e. list price or more) on a brand new OEM front bumper and then pay a little extra out of pocket to upgrade to the OEM Aerokit I front bumper. The insurance company should cover the cost of the brand new OEM front bumper. Even if you don't get the sideskirts the Aerokit I bumper looks a lot better than the stock -- especially second hand -- bumper.
EDIT: I just re-read the thread... at $950 the group buy price on the Aerokit I front bumper is LESS than the list price on the stock OEM front bumper! You should definitely take advantage of this deal!
i haven't been able to find anything on the rear fairings of the aero kit for the '99's on the dps store...
you guys carry the whole aero kit, but could you sell just the rear seperately?
Does anyone have a link to pics of the complete aero kit on a cab? Is it just aesthetics, or is there a functional reason not to put a tail on the cabs?
Thanks,
TD (in Northern VA)
The Aerokit tails will not work on the cabs as the top lid comes back when when the covertable top is in motion. You can however get a Carrera tail that was specificly designed for the cab. Or we have an factory duplicate aerokit II tail that has been custom built to work on the cabs.
Cheers

I've been having some "difficulties" with receiving my order from Dayton, just a warning to all. I have spoken with Dayton several times and he claims he is trying to get it done as soon as possible, I'll let you know how it turns out.
JB,
Please hang in there, we just found out you never received your bumper ordered last year. I give you my personal guarantee we will get you taken care of ASAP.
Best Regards,
Dayton
Dayton when did you just find out? When I called in January asking where it was? When I called in the first week of February asking why you shipped to my old Manhattan office when I specifically instructed that it was to be shipped to my body shop? Or was it last week Thursday when I told you I still hadn't received anything, and you told me it was sitting in your warehouse in California? This is crap. Based on your promise I have a half disassembled 996 sitting at a body shop with half the parts prepped. My body shop scheduled this time, I rented a car since I would be without mine. And your response is a hey I don't know what happened to the bumper we allegedly shipped, but "how about a refund". Damn that's helpful. All I know is if it was the other way around I would be searching the earth to find another bumper asap to make my customer happy. You know this has been going on for almost two months but I pm'ed or called you I purposely did not post on an open forum even when I saw your group buy. I wanted to give you the chance of making it right and not to mess with your business. But "hang in there"? How long am I supposed to hang. Hey you want to pay for the rent a car? The difference its going to cost having the body shop paint parts two times instead of just on one occassion? The parts were ordered and paid for on December 23 how is it possible that I still don't have them? And you don't have any idea when you will have them do you? Rennlisters sorry for the rant. To those of you that previously order I hope all works out. If not I apologize for not posting my problems publicly earlier.
Lets get the facts straight here JB. You gave us the wrong address to begin with. We tried to get FEDEX to change the order in route but they wouldn't . The order was returned to our Los angeles Facility. As I mentioned, I beleive we may have one at our faciliy in SFO. If so, I will airfreight it too you. We will do everything in our power to make you happy. But I have only known about this bumper issue for a few hours. I will take care of you, please give us a chance.
Thanks
Dayton
Are you nuts. The address you shipped to was an office I hadn't been in for 6 months. I specifically sent e-mail instructions and spoke on the phone with one of your reps to have the parts shipped to my body shop. Yeah that's what I wanted a bumper and side skirts in a Manhattan office with my body shop on Long Island. When the order was returned to your LA facility why wasn't it immediately shipped to the right address? You didn't even know it was sitting in LA until I called and asked where the order was. Its amazing but my order from Pelican placed the same day got there no problem. I was giving you a chance but your last email to me was you were out of stock, so basically I was screwed. Hey that's great if you have another bumper. But please don't try to put this on me. Look I really don't want to hash this out. I want the parts that I ordered and my car back. If you can get it done great if not then I guess I am screwed and its time to start
Dayton this a partial copy of the original order from e-bay that shipping address is pretty clear.

JB....correct me if I am wrong (or maybe Dayton can) but isn't he nor his company NOT a Rennlist Site Sponsor. If you ask me, I would NEVER do business with somebody soliciting items for sale that they will make a profit on an ot supporting the very forum they use to make that profit. FYI....this is strictly forbidden and against the Rennlist charter.
This isn't the first time somebody has got the screw job or left hanging from a non-member (business or individual). Not saying that it doesn't happen with those who support the site, just saying it is not nearly as common from the TRUE BOARD SPONSORS.
Dell you are right he is not a member or sponsor. My purchase was made from him on e-bay before this "group buy" and had nothing to do with any rennlist post.
"When I called in the first week of February asking why you shipped to my old Manhattan office when I specifically instructed that it was to be shipped to my body shop?"
Ok, I'm done with this nonsense. We will take care of you don't worry, I will do my best to get this bumper to you air freight. We must have just guessed what your old Manhattan address was.
Regards
Dayton
You had it from a previous order. I order clear corners for my car from you back in 03. At least own up to your screw up. Oh by the way since where getting done with the nonsense where is the front windshield molding? The bumper cover you shipped on Dec. 23 is where? the tracking # is? Come on whose playing games? So this new bumper cover is coming when??

Posts: 75 Finally got wing installed!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this week Dayton sent me the third brake light and a harness (though he still hasn't figured it out) but he thought he'd let me see what he's been challenged with.
Not to beat these guys up too much, but they sent the package to an address of mine from 2 years ago (don't even know how they got that address - hasn't been that long since they sent me the wing!) - tracked it down Sat. having to contact the person how purchased by previous place.....and with the help of Kirby's site on how to install a fixed wing I now have it installed.
I concur. It looks fantastic. I personally think BBS LMs are the best looking wheels for a 911.
Are you using Tirerack's BBS LMs? I take it the rears are 11" wide? As for your aerokit, I see you have a combo of some type. I'd love to see full shots!
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the suggestions, it has been a while since my initial post, but I am immensely proud of my 996 aero with some additional mods.
On a side note, are there regular meetings or drives in the K.C. area? Having owned a NSX previously, local K.C. owners meet regularly near independence for some breakfast and a 'relaxing' drive in the back roads, It would be great for our cars as well, either joining them at their drives or conduct our own.
Look forward to meeting local owners in the KC area!
Mike
Mike:
Join the PCA. The KC region is very good. They have a breakfast every weekend at LePeep in or near Overland Park.
Doug Pierce is the membership chair and can fill you in on details. Let me know if you have any difficulty reaching him. It looks like they have a new member orientation meeting on April 1 at Imagine Auto too.
