Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I work at a major pharmaceutical company and this months campaign has been dedicated to breast cancer. My wife and I where having a discussion about it and it led to what we wanted out of life before we die. This came about because I heard the stories of woman who died due to breast cancer and it recently hit home. Fortunately, it was just calcium build up and the doctor said it was nothing. That being said, we spoke about our time in this world and she asked me what I wanted to do before I die? At first nothing came to mind but after a few minutes I thought wouldnt it be great if I could:
Race a lap around the Nurburgring
Go Marlin Fishing off the Florida Keys
Enjoy watching the WRC Cataluyna Rally in Spain (then take a ride in a WRC car)
Enjoy every moment with my wife/family
Die in Peace
After the meaningful conversation, I started up the 996 and enjoyed every minute of it going to the grocery store.
Does dating a couple Victoria Secret models count?
How about
:
See my son grow to be a healthy and successful human being
Help a homeless/lost child find meaning in his/her life and make a difference
Drive the Nurburgring like a pro in a Carrera GT
Attend the Monaco F1 GP
Attend the 24 Hrs of LeMans
Cheers
Not to bring down your post, but my step-mother died of breast cancer two years ago at age 50. That woke me up to start taking better care of myself, eating right, exercise etc.
My list:
Be a good father for my daughter, make sure I'm around for her for a very long time
be a good husband
Run laps at the Nurburgring
Drive on the Autobahn
Attend a Forumula 1 race at either Monoco or Montreal
own a Ferrari F430
own a 911 Turbo (996 or 997)
own a Lotus Elise
Race in a Skip Barber Formula Dodge Regional Race
own a place down the shore
retire young
be able to continue playing ice hockey for many years to come
being in the best physical shape that I can be.
a lot more that I can't think of right now...
My list goes a long with this:
My Parents live to see my kids and hopefully enjoy great times with them.
For my Parents to actually like someone that Im dating
Kids to grow up healthy and successfull
My wife to be great in everything that she does, both personal and professional career
Drive a Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti Veyron, and what ever new Hyper Sportscar WOT anywhere and everywhere in the world
Fly a plane
Be very comfortable in life both financially and in health
But my wish list would be
Date a woman that is amazingly attractive and great in everyway shape or form not just in bed but iin every aspect of a "serious" relationship
Have my own Island with a race track.
A couple of "Go Fast" boast to tail it to Cuba or Hawaii for drinks and cruise back
My own Plane
A Penthouse suite in NYC, San Diego, Monaco, Istambul, Monte Carlo, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and other front running cities in the world.
And especially for my money in my bank account to double in every second!!!!
Now I know why my wife calls me shallow. The first thing that popped into my mind when I read the question '"What would I like to do before I die?" was Angelina Jolie.
I went to the 50th Anniversay Party at the Playboy Mansion a couple of years ago....and for those who have not had the experience....I recommend going to a party at the Mansion as high up on the list of things to do before you die.
I highly doubt that they would ever let me in the playboy mansion but if they did..... but seriously I always wanted to take my son and get tourist delivery of a new turbo- something I can probably pull of some day- on a low serious note I got word today of a friend killed in a car crash that had a new 2 month old at home and these toughts have been on my mind all day- how ironic
Mike - that's a good one!
BTW - I have magical powers. So you want to get between Angelina Jolie's legs? I will grant your wish! <Waves magic wand> Poof!!! You are now a Kotex!
Nothing. Not a thing at all.
After losing my brother in a horrible car accident and my father to cancer last year I realized that this is a question that you shouldn't have to ask anymore. It is something that you should do all the time. Life is too short to take it seriously. I spend as much time with my wife as possible, my love to her like it was my last, tell EVERYONE I love one almost daily (via phone or in person) that I love them, hit the track whenever possible, and ALWAYS go somewhere or go do somthing when my wife or I say "you know what we should do?". Makes like that much more fun and never leaves the possibility open to regret.
I feel fortunate that I have been able to do most everything that I have set my sights on over the years.
I somehow keep thinking about climbing in the Andes.
Adding to all of the other "be a good father/husband" stuff, I would like very much to play Augusta National, run with the bulls in Pamplona, and someday orbit the earth right on the edge of our atmosphere.
I am certain that low-orbit spaceflight will be a reality in my lifetime, and that the bulls will continue to run in Spain (as they are without all of the whiny cry-baby types who would never allow such a thing here), now if I could just befriend a member of Augusta National, I would be set.
Right on, live your life. If you have things that you'd like to be doing, then start planning them now. It ain't hard, it just takes a little effort. Last year was skydiving for me and flying a plane. This year, visiting Stonehenge (don't ask, but I've always wanted to since I was a kid....it's actually pretty cool if you're into mysterious rocks that are thousands of years old).
As some mentioned above, the lists are good, but the memories are better. So start making those memories.
If I was about to die and at that very moment I knew my kids were going to be well-adjusted men who gave something back to others i would smile since i would know that i had already done everything i wante4d to do before I died. Sounds sappy but all the other stuff would fade pretty quickly.
WOW, there is NO WAY I want to live to be 100 years old! The quality of life the last 15 - 20 hears would, IMO, totally suck! I want 75 - 80 years MAX! Yeah right! Like I really have any say in the situation!
True... and with my family history I know that is not going to be possible. On the other hand, my wife might. She has several family members with 90+ years that still live a full independant live.
I remember when growing up my dad saying that 65 was and old age... now that he is 67 he changed the story to 80 being an old age...
Seriously, the amount of things I want to do before I die is long... and I keep adding to it. Plan as if you will never die, but live like there is no tomorrow...
I want to see my children grow to have their own family and be able to enjoy them along the way as we are doing now. I still have the trip to Europe (Italy and Spain mostly) that I want to do with the family. I want to go island hopping from Puerto Rico to Virgen Gorda. And when I am 70+ be able to pay four 25 year old hot babes to strech my skin on the beach while I get a sun tan, etc.
wwest...regardless of your political affiliation (which is clearly obvious) you have some issues that you really need to seek therapy for. That is just sadistic.
ps. the question was what would you like to do, not what you would like to see.
I'm 66, and IMMHO have been more successful, in "life" comparison, than Bill Gates.
My greatest wish is that I want to spent the rest of my life with my dear wife, but not live a day beyond.
OK...I would LOVE to climb Everest...am I the only one? The only problem is that 1 in 4 don't make it...potentially ironic.
I echo all the others comments like "good husband and father," "see kids grow," "love my wife," etc...but selfishly, would love to reach the top...
I took out a life insurance policy....that is what I wanted to do before I die.....now I know my wife is waiting!! ( I told her that she can't kill me, because she won't collect!..just in case!)
I think I am pretty lucky as it is...seeing shows on TV about people who have terminal illnesses and living in parts of the world that are not that great, to say the least!!
But....there are some things I would like to do before I die...and I am working on them! Can tell anybody about them will be bad luck!
I read many of these posts with great interest since in my case this is not an excercise. Diagnosed with cancer in March of 03, unfortunately my situation is grim since my CA has metastasized to my liver, lungs and bone. However I have been lucky in that I have been able to build great memories with my 11 y/o son and wife.
Below is a short list of things I have done with my friends and family.
*Went on long term disability from my career.
*Traded my 97 C4s for an 04 GT3 and track it often.
*Went to Hawaii with my extended family and friends and partied.
* Spent a month in Sun Valley the last two years and skiied.
* Took my son to Disneyland with his cousins.
* Supported my son's interest in motocross, bought him two bikes so far.
* Set up numerous car drives with my gearhead friends.
* Drove from WA to Monterrey for the concours in August twice. Great P car driving
* Been to Vegas a few times to party with friends.
All my energy is focused on spending time with friends and family and ensuring my family is financially ok when I am not here. I can't begin to tell you how lucky I am to have great family and friends to spend my remaining time with. Kind of sucks to be checking out early (47y/o). Not how I planned to retire. To those that have been too busy to spend time with family and friends, you may want to reconsider. No guarantees we all live to our 80s.
bam
Thanks for sharing your story and reminding us all that we should LIVE our lives and not just exist in them. i remember years ago a teacher tellig me that if you asked someone in America waht they do they instantly tell you about their job. Thier take was that if you asked a European what they do they start telling you about their hobbies, family, etc. long before they discuss what they do to earn money. Not sure if that is the case (I spent a fair amount of time in Europe but never really took the time to see if this was the case) but there is a life lesson there I'm sure.
I'm 47 also and I can't imagine how you are dealing with things. Keep fighting and continue to live each day and make memories for your wife and son. Those will go on forever.
bam...thanks for sharing your story. I lost my father last year to a 5 year battle with colon cancer from age 55-60. He was my best friend and my role model. What I admire about him is that he lived his life just as you and made me realize just how precious life is and that your best friend (or yourself) could be celebrating life one day and gone the next. I wish you the best in hope that you can beat this cancer and come out on top. Either way, you will still come out on top since you NEVER let cancer take away your heart, mind, or soul.
